The next morning, Hana woke up early for Sehri. She woke up at around 3am and went down. No one was up other than her mother, Tayis and the maids. She said Salaam and helped them in the kitchen. After the Sehri was ready, her Badhi (older) Tayi told her to wake everyone up and call them down for Sehri. Hana nodded and went to her Dado’s room first to wake her up.

Her Dado and badhay (Older) Taya had rooms downstairs while all the other family members had rooms upstairs. She knocked on her dado’s door and waited. After a minute, she knocked again and heard shuffling from the other side. The door was opened by a sleepy Dado.

“Dado, Sehri tyaar h! Tayi jaan nay kaha h k me ap ko jaga dn (Grandma, Sehri is ready! Aunty told me to wake you up and let you know about it!)!” Hana said softly to her dado with a gentle smile.

“Okay! I am coming!” Her dado said without any smile or softness. After saying that, she shut the door on hana’s face. Hana did not mind that and went next to her Taya’s room. She knocked and on the fourth time, the door opened and she informed her Badhay (Older) taya about Sehri.

“Okay beta! I’ll be there in 5 minutes!” Her taya replied in a gentle voice and went to the bathroom. Hana next went upstairs to her father’s room and knocked. In the first knock, she heard shuffling so she said in a loud voice from the other side of the door:

“Sehri is ready Baba!” Hana said and when she heard a reply then she went to the next person to wake.

She next went to Daniyal’s room and knocked very loudly. There was no reply on even the fourth reply so she banged the door very loudly and hollered at the top of her voice:

“SEHRI IS READY! Dani bhai (Brother)! I’ll eat your food if you will not wake up now!” Hana shouted. Her shout was not that loud to wake everyone but the threat was enough for Daniyal to wake up.

“I am up! I am up! Geez aurat! Subah Subah mood kharab kr diya apni Chawal avaaz say (Geez woman! You just ruined my whole day with your annoying voice!)!” daniyal shouted from the other side of the door. Hana stuck her tongue out at the closed door.

“You ho gay Aurat! Me to nhi hn! Pagal ko itna b nhi pata k meri abhi shadi nhi hui tou phir me Aurat kesay hui! Aye Barhay BHAI kahi k! common sense ka tou naam hi nhi h! Hunh! (You are a woman! I am not one! The retard does not even know that I am not married yet so how can I be a woman! Stupid older brother, does not even have common sense! Huh!)” hana muttered and went to all the other rooms.

She got the similar reactions from everyone and every-time she stuck her tongue out at the closed door. Only Rayaan replied without any rude remark for Hana.

“Okay! I’ll be there, you go ahead!” Rayaan replied. He did not opened the door as he was not wearing appropriate clothing and just replied from the other side of the closed door.

Next, she went to her Zamid Bhai’s room and he opened the door at the first knock.

“What do you want?” Zamid asked in a rude manner. He was in shorts and a t-shirt with rough hair. Hana got hurt at his harsh words.

“Wo Bhai jaan….Wo! (Actually, brother…. Actually!)” Hana stuttered. This annoyed Zamid a lot.

“WHAT!” He harshly shouted at hana. Hana flinched at the loud voice and became scared.

“Wo Mamma Sehri k liye bula rahi hain! (Actually, mamma was calling for Sahri!)” hana hurriedly said. She only got a loud band as an answer as Zamid shut the door very forcefully on Hana’s face. Hana again flinched and backed away.

Hana first calmed her fast beating heart and cleaned the sweat from her forehead with her hijab. She next went to Zayn’s room and knocked. He opened the room and groggily asked hana the reason for interrupting his ‘Beauty Sleep’.

Hana giggled at this and informed that Sehri is ready. Zayn groaned and moodily said that he is coming and went back to his room. Hana went back downstairs and informed her mother that everyone is coming.

There was a time when her parents had gone to visit Hana’s Nano (Grandma from mother’s side) and hana was only 5 years old at that time. It was Sunday and a holiday so they left their children at the Villa as Zamid and Zayn did not wanted to go and they could not take hana with them because of some reasons.

All the kids went to Hana’s Phuppo’s place only leaving hana with the maid in an empty house. Her parents were already at her Nano’s place to visit her so she was all alone. In the evening, everyone returned from her Phuppo’s place only her parents were not back from there. They will return after dinner.

Little hana went with her coloring book and showed that to her brothers who were playing in the backyard with all the other kids. An annoyed 14 years old Zamid harshly tugged little hana’s arm and dragged her back upstairs and took her to the roof. He pushed hana on the roof and locked the door from his side. Little hana knocked on the door with her little fists but Zamid did not open the door.

“Bhai! Bhai? Are you pwaying with me? Are we pwaying hide and seek? Why are you not talking? Bhai? Bhai jaan?” Hana asked from the other side of the locked door but she still got no answer. She was becoming scared but she got no answer. Zamid had already run back downstairs to play with others.

When hana’s parents came after dinner, then they asked about hana but everyone was confused as they had not seen her for the whole day. All the kids were already asleep in their rooms so hiba and Asfand also went to check on hana in her room but they could not find her. They went back downstairs and asked about hana in hysteria. Everyone started searching for hana and then a guard yelled from the roof that he found hana. The guard had hana in his arms and he went downstairs. Hiba and Asfand hurriedly took hana from his arms and checked her for any injuries. Hana was burning with fever so hiba took her to their room. Asfand called the doctor. In the morning, hana woke up and told everything to her parents while crying very badly and hiccupping.

“I waj sho Shcared Mamma! Bhai jaan shut me! He not liked me very much! Bhai jaan is a bully! I not talk to Bhai Jaan! I not pway to Bhai Jaan!” Hana said innocently while sobbing loudly in her father’s embrace.

Hiba scolded Zamid at the breakfast table in front of everyone. This made Zamid to hate hana even more but he remained silent as his parents were angry.

Hana has been scared of her brother at that time too and after that incident, she stopped asking to play with her brothers and that was the time when she stopped even talking to boys. She only talked to her father and very rarely with her tayas and that too only when it was necessary.

That was the start of hana’s lonely and introverted personality. She never even tried to talk to girls in school. Only Mishaal was her friend and talked to her. Hana only wanted her brother’s attention and no one else but it was never possible for her. Zayn always followed Zamid in everything and he also teased and made fun of Hana all the time. He was not as harsh as Zamid. He was just always jokingly teasing her while Zamid was punishing hana for the crimes unknown to the world. Only their family members knew why Zamid was so harsh on Hana but they never said anything.
