Chapter 261 Kidnapped
"Yes. I don't want her to be worried. I'm old now, and these are just old illnesses. Nothing serious."
Eleanor's faint smile left Benjamin silent. He always felt Eleanor was hiding something, but he was unsure. So, he didn't ask.
After Eleanor and Benjamin finished breakfast, Harper got up.
When she realized Benjamin had not returned all night, she felt indescribably depressed. But she reminded herself not to be affected by anyone and then came to find Eleanor.
Harper was surprised to see Benjamin at Eleanor's place.
Benjamin served her the meal, pulled out the chair, and explained in a low voice, "It was already past three o'clock when I got back last night. I was worried about waking you up, so I slept in the car."
Harper frowned slightly. She didn't quite understand what Benjamin meant. Was he explaining to her?
She didn't say anything. She looked at him, then sat down and had breakfast.
Afterward, Benjamin drove her to the company. Before she got out of the car, he said, "Don't let your assistant come to the Martin Group on your behalf, okay?"
"Why?"
"No reason. I just don't have much time to meet an assistant."
Harper fell silent. When she looked at Benjamin, she saw him staring at her.
She subconsciously withdrew her gaze and said, "I see."
Harper got out of the car and left, and Benjamin drove away.
Neither of them noticed the silver van that had been following behind them.
Harper took Sophia to the construction site in the afternoon.
She came for two consecutive days, which made Charlie feel a little stressed. Charlie asked, "Harper, does Mr. Martin not trust me?"
Harper immediately understood and quickly explained, "It has nothing to do with Mr. Martin. I came here on my own. Don't overthink it. You are very responsible. I came here because some things must be paid attention to. Besides, this is my job."
"What a relief. If Mr. Martin is not satisfied, I will be prepared to make changes in advance."
"No. So far so good."
Sophia smiled faintly and said in embarrassment, "Ms. Mitchell, I'm not going with you."
"Don't you want me to send you back?" Harper asked.
"No. Someone will pick me up," Sophia said.
"Your boyfriend?" Harper asked curiously.
Sophia shook her head. "No. I haven't said yes."
She covered her face. Her shy smile made Harper laugh, too.
"Then go. Don't keep him waiting, and tell me next time if I am obsessed with work again," said Harper.
"Okay." Sophia nodded. Then, she picked up her bag and trotted out. She sat on the back seat of the motorcycle. She was filled with youthfulness, which Harper had never experienced before.
She was envious, and a smile subconsciously appeared on her face. She then withdrew her gaze, picked up her bag, and walked to the parking lot.
Harper never thought she would be kidnapped in the parking lot of a busy construction site!
