After dialing the phone, Iris quickly answered, "Mr. Lawrence?"
"Did you go to South Hospital today?" Zane responded before asking directly.
Iris replied, "I'm on my way to South Hospital now. I promised Anika that I would have dinner with her tonight."
Upon hearing Iris' words, Zane said, "When you're ready, bring Anika out to eat. We'll be at..."
Before he could finish, Zane turned to Yanis and asked in a low voice, "Where should we eat?"
Yanis thought for a moment and whispered, "Banyan Garden, it's quieter."
Zane relayed Yanis' words to Iris, saying, "Banyan Garden."
Iris responded, "Okay, I'll pick up Anika and come over in a while."
"No rush, we'll wait for you there."
After ending the call, Zane looked at the things he was holding and asked, "Do you want to keep browsing?"
Yanis whispered, "I saw a women's outfit that would suit Anika. Let's buy it for her."
"Do you know her size?" Zane asked.
Yanis nodded. "I can tell at a glance."
Yanis had often looked at sizes when shopping with Bonnie, so she could roughly estimate the size.
Anika was very slim now, and even a small size felt loose on her.
As they chatted, Yanis and Zane returned to the women's clothing store they had visited earlier. Yanis asked the salesperson to wrap the clothes she had picked out and paid for them. After that, they drove directly to Banyan Garden.
It was around 5 or 6 p. m., the dinner rush hour, and there were many cars on the road. It took them nearly half an hour to reach Banyan Garden from the mall.
When they arrived, Iris and Anika were still on their way.
So they went in and ordered the dishes first.
"I'll go to the restroom." After placing the order, Yanis greeted Zane and went straight to the restroom.
Zane watched Yanis enter the restroom. He had initially planned to go to their private room, but after some consideration, he decided to sit in the lobby on one of the chairs.
Yanis had already reached the restroom, but before she could enter, her phone rang.
It was Stella calling. Yanis answered the call, "Stella?"
"Are you planning to shop until tomorrow? Or are you going to finish the whole year's shopping today?" Stella's voice came through the phone.
Yanis smiled and replied, "It's not that exaggerated, but Sandy and I are not together. She met a friend in the afternoon and went to have dinner with them. She should be back soon. Did you try calling her?"
"I did, but I couldn't reach her, so I called you first. I'll try calling her again later," Stella explained.
Hearing Stella's words, Yanis felt a bit uneasy, but she didn't say anything in front of Stella. "I'll call her later."
After saying that, Yanis asked, "Stella, have you had dinner? Zane, Anika, and I are at Banyan Garden. Do you want to come over?"
Stella immediately declined, "No need. I'll just cook something at home. I haven't been feeling well all day, as if I haven't slept enough. After you ask Sandy later and if everything's fine, you don't need to call me. I'm planning to go back to sleep."
Hearing Stella's words, Yanis couldn't help but laugh. "Didn't you sleep the whole day?"
Stella sighed, "I'm just getting old. You guys go ahead and have your meal. I'll go back to sleep."
Yanis chuckled and replied, "Alright then. Get some rest."
Yanis intended to leave after saying that, but as she passed by Madison, her wrist was grabbed by Madison's hand.
Yanis was forced to stop and instinctively pulled her hand out of Madison's grip.
Madison's hand remained suspended awkwardly in mid-air, and she looked at Yanis with a hint of embarrassment. She spoke softly, "Yanis, I just wanted to talk to you about what happened before. I..."
"Mrs. Baxter, I don't want to know about the past or anything that happened before. I think the way things are now between us is fine. Let's not disturb each other and maintain the current situation," Yanis interrupted her before she could finish her sentence.
Madison's words were stuck on the tip of her tongue, unable to come out.
And Yanis didn't give Madison a chance to speak further. She turned around and walked away.
Madison hesitated for a moment before following behind, saying, "Yanis."
As Yanis heard Madison's voice reaching out to her, she quickened her pace and practically ran out of the restroom.
Zane had been waiting for Yanis for what felt like a long time. Just as he was about to get up and check on her, he saw Yanis rushing towards him with an anxious expression.
Zane approached her and pulled her into his arms. "What's wrong?"
Yanis shook her head. "Let's go to the private room."
"Yanis."
Just as Yanis finished speaking with Zane, Madison came out as well.
When Madison saw Zane, her footsteps hesitated for a moment.
Zane held Yanis in his arms, glanced at Madison, and furrowed his brow slightly. He asked calmly, "Does Mrs. Baxter need something from Yanis?"
