Yanis stood at the door of the hospital room, watching Olivia sitting on the chair by the window, whispering something to Martin.
Yanis hesitated for a while but ultimately decided not to go in. She stood there for a moment before turning and walking away.
Just as she took a few steps, a familiar voice came from behind, "Yanis?"
Upon hearing the voice behind her, Yanis paused and turned to look back.
Olivia closed the room door behind her and walked towards Yanis. "Why did you come so late?"
Yanis pursed her lips. "I couldn't sleep, so I decided to take a walk."
Olivia looked at Yanis. "Did you... come to see me? Or to see your dad?"
At this point, Yanis didn't deny it anymore and whispered, "To see you."
Olivia nodded and glanced at the chairs in the corridor. "Let's sit over there."
Yanis hummed in agreement and followed Olivia towards the chairs.
Once they were seated, Yanis suddenly felt a bit lost. She had impulsively come here, but now that she was actually sitting with Olivia, she didn't know what to say.
The two of them sat silently on the chairs, neither of them speaking first.
Time passed by, seconds ticking away, until finally Olivia broke the silence. "Will you be discharged tomorrow?"
Yanis responded to her question. "Almost. I actually wanted to go home today, but Zane said to observe for one more night."
Olivia said, "That's good. It's better to make sure everything is fine before going back."
After Olivia's words, Yanis turned her head to look at Olivia. "When can my dad be discharged?"
"Anytime now, but... I want him to have his stitches removed before leaving. It would put my mind at ease," Olivia replied.
"That's fine."
After responding, the conversation came to a brief end once again.
"Yanis, are you planning to go see her?" Olivia asked after a while.
Yanis remained silent for a few seconds before whispering, "I don't want to."
Upon hearing Yanis' response, Olivia glanced at her and said, "Back then, I didn't understand her either. Maybe it was due to emotions or some unspoken resentment, so I completely disagreed with her actions. I even blamed her for what happened to me."
At this point, Olivia paused for a moment. "But after calming down and reflecting on it, if it were me, I might have done the same."
"If it were you, would you give up your child without any hesitation?" Yanis asked, turning her head to look at Olivia.
Olivia met Yanis' gaze. "I said I might do what she did, but my choice would have been to completely break up his family and give the child a complete home. My child shouldn't be without a mother, or a father, and definitely shouldn't call someone else 'mom'."
Bonnie shook her head and sat up. "Who were you texting just now? Zane?"
"Ivan. He said he'll come by later and bring us some food. He asked me what you want to eat, so I told him congee and xiaolongbao."
Yawning, Bonnie said, "Sounds good. I was craving that. Can you send a message to Wendy and tell her not to come this morning?"
Yanis agreed, "Sure. You go freshen up, and I'll go check on him."
Bonnie clicked her tongue. "Did I interrupt your quality time last night?"
Yanis chuckled helplessly. "What are you talking about? Go freshen up. I'll be there shortly."
Ignoring Bonnie's comment, Yanis turned and left the room. But before she could reach Bonnie's room to find Zane, she ran into him halfway.
"Wide awake this early?" Zane approached Yanis in just a few steps.
Yanis nodded. "I was about to come and find you."
"I didn't sleep very well last night, so I woke up early," Zane explained. Then he looked at Yanis and asked, "What do you feel like eating for breakfast? Should I go buy something or have Sophia make it and ask Albi to bring it over?"
Yanis responded, "No need. Ivan messaged me just now saying he'll bring something when he comes."
Zane seemed surprised by Yanis's words. "He messaged you?"
