The matter of transferring shares was something Zane had never mentioned before. Yet, he was quite forceful in making Yanis sign.
Albi quickly notarized the documents without giving Yanis a chance to read through the clauses. All the clauses were skewed in Yanis' favor. They were all about giving away everything to Yanis, even to the extent that Zane had personally drafted a declaration. In case he ever did something wrong to Yanis or the family, he would leave with nothing, essentially giving everything he had to Yanis and their child.
Furthermore, any future income or returns Zane earned would belong entirely to Yanis, a revelation Yanis only learned much later from Albi.
The two of them remained in the company until evening, leaving the office with the other employees.
Yanis had been in a great mood all day.
"Let's eat out later," Yanis said in a hushed voice as Zane led her to the car.
Zane agreed, "Sure thing."
Thinking about the signing earlier, Yanis said softly, "I'll treat you."
Zane nodded, "You should. After all, I'm working for you now."
Upon hearing Zane's words, Yanis couldn't help but smile mischievously. "If you misbehave again, I'll fire you."
"For real?"
"Do I look like I'm joking?"
Zane couldn't resist the urge to lean down and kiss her. Although most of the employees had left by now, there were still people around, so Yanis instinctively evaded him. She even pulled her hand away and hurried toward the car.
Unperturbed, Zane followed Yanis, and as she got to the car, he gave her a quick kiss before opening the car door. "Where to?"
Yanis looked at him, a hint of pride in her eyes, and couldn't resist challenging him, "You think you're something, huh?"
Even as Zane playfully considered a response, Yanis had a surprise of her own. She initiated a kiss, leaving Zane momentarily surprised. However, he quickly embraced the opportunity, deepening the kiss. Yanis' hands were not idle either; she boldly applied the techniques he had taught her earlier in the office.
"Yanis," Zane managed to utter after a while, clearly taken aback by her boldness.
Undeterred, Yanis continued her ministrations, making Zane's self-control falter further. His voice became huskier and laden with restrained desire as he called her name again, "Yanis."
Yanis glanced around, realizing that the department manager was approaching. She released her hold on Zane and sat up straight, flashing a smile at the manager.
Zane, captivated by the smile in Yanis' eyes, was about to speak but stopped himself when he heard footsteps and conversation behind him.
Zane's intended words remained unsaid as the department manager addressed him, "Mr. Lawrence?"
Although tempted to turn around, Zane realized it wasn't the appropriate time. He caught Yanis' playful moves from the corner of his eye and suddenly understood her intentions.
Suppressing a chuckle, he discreetly squeezed Yanis' hand and then replied to the manager, "Let's head home early since it's after work hours."
Fortunately, the manager didn't linger and left after a brief exchange.
Once they were alone again, Zane turned his amused gaze toward Yanis, his eyes filled with a mix of indulgence and amusement. "Having fun, were you?"
Yanis laughed, utterly delighted. "Not having fun?"
Zane sighed in a mixture of amusement and exasperation, lifting his hand to tap her cheek. "You're something else."
Finally, he helped Yanis fasten her seatbelt and closed the car door before settling into the driver's seat.
As they drove, Yanis couldn't help but chuckle at Zane's reactions from earlier.
Zane had intended to say something, but he found himself entranced by the radiant joy in Yanis' eyes. He decided not to interrupt her mood.
"Yanis, can I come in?" Zane called out, his heart clenching with worry.
After a moment, Yanis flushed the toilet and weakly responded, "Yes."
Zane entered and saw Yanis, her complexion pale, leaning on the sink, washing her face.
Seeing her state, Zane's eyebrows furrowed slightly. "Are you feeling any better?"
Yanis shook her head and continued to wash her face before rinsing her mouth.
As she turned to speak to Zane, another wave of nausea hit her, but this time, nothing came up.
Zane looked at Yanis with concern as she recovered. After a while, he gently scooped her up and carried her back to the bedroom, laying her down on the bed. "Should we go to the hospital?"
Yanis shook her head weakly. "No need. I just want to rest for a bit."
Zane checked the time and decided to lie down beside her. He embraced her, offering comfort. Yanis, feeling lightheaded, snuggled against Zane's chest, finding some relief in his warmth.
Though Yanis dozed off quickly due to exhaustion, her sleep was restless and short-lived. Less than half an hour later, she woke up again, feeling even more unwell and fatigued.
Zane held her closely, his worried eyes fixed on her face. "Are you feeling worse?"
Yanis shook her head and managed to speak weakly, "I think I need to sleep a little more."
Zane sighed softly, his fingers gently stroking her hair. He watched over her, ensuring she could rest. Despite his concern, he didn't disturb her and allowed her to sleep.
Throughout the night, Yanis experienced intermittent sleep, with brief moments of calm followed by waves of discomfort and nausea. Zane remained vigilant, offering his presence and support.
In the morning, Yanis awoke, her face still pale and her energy drained.
