Tarquin pinched the bridge of his nose. What was his relationship with Wyatt?
It was a long story...
To sum it up in one sentence: they used to be like brothers, and now they were mortal enemies!
With a dark expression, Tarquin answered dismissively,
"Just an old friend I had a falling out with. It doesn't matter. But remember what I said—if you see him again, stay away. Don't even talk to him."
Elysia looked at him skeptically, highly curious about their history.
Mainly because the guy was incredibly bizarre, and Tarquin's reaction to simply hearing about him was intense.
But seeing that he was in no mood to elaborate, she didn't press the issue and simply nodded.
"I got it."
When they reached the elevators, Tarquin told Elysia to head up first, saying he needed to make a quick phone call downstairs.
The moment she was out of sight, he immediately pulled up the hospital's security footage from the incident.
The footage perfectly matched her description. But seeing Wyatt casually chatting with Elysia on screen sent his anger boiling over!
He dialed Wyatt immediately!
Wyatt answered on the first ring. "Finally decided to reach out to me?"
Tarquin didn't waste any time.
"I don't care what you were trying to pull by getting close to Elysia yesterday. If you take one more step toward her, I'll break both your legs!"
"Would you have contacted me if I hadn't approached her?" Wyatt retorted. "You ignore my calls, leave my texts on read, and then you blocked my number entirely!"
"I'm still the same guy I've always been. No matter what I do, you're the one forcing my hand."
Tarquin's expression was absolutely venomous.
"And I'm still the same guy too. I always keep my promises! If you mess with Elysia again, I will make you regret it for the rest of your pathetic life!"
He hung up instantly, his chest heaving with rage.
A message from Wyatt popped up on his screen:
[You definitely know how Kendrick and Elizabeth died by now. But their deaths had nothing to do with me. Even if you need someone to hate, it shouldn't be me.]
[Out of everyone in this entire world, you are the most important person to me. You shouldn't treat me like this.]
Tarquin ignored him. He deleted the message, shoved his phone away, and lit a cigarette.
