His Housewife Had Secret Identities novel Chapter 726

Elmer, forgetting his umbrella, ran through the downpour to the race officials. “Niamh’s car is out of control! Call the police, clear the road ahead!”

Meanwhile, inside the car, Niamh was focusing all her energy on the handbrake, pulling it bit by bit while downshifting. She tried to gently guide the car against the guardrail, hoping the friction would help it decelerate.

But she had been going too fast, and on the slick road, these measures felt like a drop in the ocean.

Dead ahead was the deep, churning Lethe River.

Niamh’s racing suit was soaked through, sweat dripping into her eyes, but she couldn’t panic. She forced herself to stay calm. Worst case scenario, she’d plunge straight into the river.

As she clenched her jaw, a deep space-gray Koenigsegg appeared out of nowhere, seeming to merge with the rainy night as it closed in on her car.

“Niamh, can you hear me?” A familiar male voice crackled through the car’s radio.

Niamh’s eyes widened. “Jonathan, what are you doing here?” She noticed the gray Koenigsegg tailing her.

“Looks like I don’t need to tell you about slowing down and scraping the guardrail,” Jonathan’s voice came back, making Niamh find the situation absurdly funny. She was surprised she could even laugh when her life was on the line.

“I’m a professional racer, you know.”

“Right, you are.”

The conversation paused. Jonathan still hadn’t answered her question: what was he doing here?

“Jonathan, I can’t control my speed. If you don’t want to die, get away from me,” Niamh said, her voice sharp with warning.

There was a moment of silence from the other end, followed by a soft chuckle.

“What if I want to die?”
