His Ex-wife Is An Heiress novel Chapter 71

Amara learnt that each time Bethany had an encounter with Tobias, while by her side, the female would always have a lot to say during the aftermath.

"...the nerves of him, really pisses me off." Bethany was ranting, hands gripping the steering wheel tightly as she drove. "I mean, what right does he have to stick his nose in your business. Doesn't he know boundaries?!"

That was a question even Amara couldn't answer, so she simply settled for a laugh, both because she found Bethany's ranting funny and because she had no words for Tobias's actions so far.

"Seriously," The older female continued. "It's as if he's making it his life mission to ruin your life. He's like a leech, sticking himself to you and sucking you dry." She shook her head. "I really didn't expect this of Tobias."

Amara smiled after Bethany's words. She could genuinely see how worried and angered Bethany was for her sake. It warmed her heart and for a second, a thought popped into her head.

Melanie and Bethany had some similarities. It would be a lie to say the two wouldn't make good friends.

But then again...

Amara chuckled at the thought of having two of the same people in her hair. But didn't refute the idea.

"He should thank his stars that my mother likes him." Saying this, Bethany pulled into the parking lot of...

Wait a minute, Amara thought, where were they?

"Where are we?" She asked as soon as the car came to a halt.

“Disco Cove.” Bethany replied, and after switching the engine off, she hopped out.

Amara followed, eyes roaming the huge club building that stood in front of them.

“It’s an exclusive club for VIPs. My brother is a member, so I managed to get a pass.” Bethany explained, leading the way inside the club.

As soon as they stepped in, the loud music blasting through the club speakers and the lights that seemed to glow with different colors all around, assaulted Amara’s senses.

“Welcome, miss.” A male dressed in a white uniform greeted the pair, giving Amara a curt nod.

“Table for two, please.” Bethany replied.

“Of course,” The male led them to a table that was situated on a higher platform and seated them. “Please call me over if you need anything. Your server would be here shortly.”

“Thank you,” Bethany gave the male a nod, turning her attention back to Amara once he had left. The younger female fixed her with a look that questioned it all. “It’s the best place to unwind after a day of work stress.” She explained.

“Is that the only reason why we’re here?” Amara asked, and the look in her eyes told Bethany that she had figured her out.

The older female chuckled. “I’m not one for sugarcoating things, so let me just tell you,” She began. “I know you’ve been feeling a bit stressed recently, and I know you’ve had a few issues with Tobias. So,” She gestured to the club. “I thought this would help.”

Amara’s lips curled upwards.

“But of course, we can leave if you’re not comfortable.” Bethany was quick to add, not wanting to make Amara feel awkward.

“Nope, I’m totally okay with this.” Amara assured.

Just then, a male walked towards their table, carrying four shot glasses on a tray.

“Your shots.” He offered one glass to Amara and the other to Bethany, placing the remaining two on the table. “Enjoy.”

Amara and Bethany shared looks, before lifting their glasses up. “Cheers.”

They downed their drinks, placing the glasses back on the tray and thanking the server, before the server was once again walking away.

“That was…”

Bethany clinked her glass against hers. “To the fund.” After downing the shot, she stood up and Pulled Amara along with her, heading to the dance floor. “Let’s celebrate properly!”

Amara chuckled, but did not refuse the gesture. Bethany’s positive energy was just too damn contagious.

The night was filled with loud music, dancing, laughing and alcohol.

A lot of alcohol.

After the seventh shot, Bethany was near wasted, Amara wasn’t, but she was definitely a bit tipsy, her face was flushed and her movements a bit clumsy, but they both continued to dance, having one of the best nights of the otherwise shitty lives.

At least for the moment.

“Hey, you looking for a companion?” An unfamiliar voice suddenly sounded beside Amara, but in her slightly tipsy state, she paid no mind to it and instead kept dancing, not minding the presence that was now behind her.

She felt the man’s hand run across her waist and instinctively, Amara’s palm smacked his hand off.

“Hands off,” She warned, her tone low, but firm. “Or you’ll lose it.”

“You’re feisty.” The male noted, his hands not relenting and instead, he tried to pull her towards him.

However, before his fingers could even grace her waist, a hand wrapped around his wrist, stopping his movement.

“You heard her.”

Amara was a bit surprised by the familiarity of the voice, and when she turned around, Tobias was standing just behind her and glaring daggers at the creep in front of her.

“Touch her one more time, and I promise, you’ll lose that hand of yours.”
