A dull ache at the side of her head, a dry mouth and a slight pounding headache were the first things Amara woke up to, but it wasn't the worst of it.
When she finally forced her eyes open, her surroundings were foreign and strange but at the same time, familiar in some sense. It wasn't until her eyes landed on a framed picture on the night stand beside her, did she realize where she was.
It was Tobias's room.
Her mind instantly snapped awake and Amara quickly shot up, but a wave of nausea washed over her, forcing her back down.
What the fuck?
Amara had never felt this sick and disoriented, ever. She felt like someone had hung her upside down for the entire night. Some how, she was sure that it was the effect of the drug Jason had tricked her into taking last night.
Then, what would explain the ache she left in her lower back and her dresslessness?
Did she and Tobias...
Memories flooded back into her mind on queue and Amara couldn't stop herself from groaning into her palms.
What the actual fuck? She had sex with Tobias?
Why the hell did she do that?!
Her mind was screaming a thousand thoughts at her, but the most important one was that she was so stupid.
Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid.
Amara had never considered herself a person to give into such lustful pleasures and desires, but the events of the night before were proof that she wasn't as innocent as she thought.
It wasn't her fault though, Jason had spiked her drink and made her lose control of her body and the last thing she could recall was Tobias saving her and bringing her here.
She groaned again.
So, was he the reason behind the soreness in her lower body?
A glance at the space next to her showed that it was empty. Tobias was no longer around.
Amara felt some sense of relief. No wanting to waste another second in bed, she got up and sourced for her dress, groaning when she found them trashed and having had to settle for one of Tobias's Hoodie and a pair of sweatpants, which was big but surprisingly a good fit.
It didn't take her long to locate her phone and purse and she headed for the door, but just as she was about to step out, she stopped, dipped her hand into her purse and fetched out a bundle of cash.
Without thinking, Amara placed it on the table, then stepped out, not looking back.
Just as she stepped out of his house, Tobias Emerged from the bathroom, hair damp and towel tied just around his waist.
His eyes scanned the room and a frown unconsciously formed when he spotted the bed empty.
She was gone?
She was about to call back when another call entered, this time, she picked.
“Mel-“
“Amara, Jesus Christ, are you alright?” Melanie sounded beyond worried.
“Yes, I’m fine.”
“Where have you been all night and why was your phone switched off?”
Amara opened her mouth to speak but hesitated. She didn’t want to hear or see Melanie more worried than she already was and Amara knew if she told Melanie about the drugging incident, then that’s exactly what would happen.
“I ran into a friend last night.” She lied. “We were catching up until late into the night and I happen to forget my charger.”
“Oh.” The tone of Melanie’s voice dropped and Amara instantly felt bad for lying. “I’m glad you’re alright. Anyways,” The tone in Melanie’s voice went up once again, sounding excited this time around. “Hector assured me that Bethany’s pictures have all been deleted. The mission was a success, girl.”
This brought a smile onto Amara’s lips. “Really?”
“Yup, congratulations!”
Amara felt relieved and chuckled. “Thank Goodness.”
“Anyways, I’ll catch you later, I’ve got work. Love ya.”
