Ivy did not hesitate, immediately shaking her head. "I'm not leaving. Don't worry about me; just focus on yourself."
"Staying here is just a waste of time."
"I've been studying and interning so hard for so long. What's wrong with taking a break now?" Ivy argued.
Before long, Hayden and Shelly had finished their shopping, and Ivy and Lucas immediately joined them to go to the hospital.
Lucas' mother had no idea that Ivy's brother and sister-in-law were coming to visit her, so she appeared a bit uncomfortable when they arrived.
She tried to sit up, but her body failed her.
Ivy raised the head of the hospital bed. "Aunty, my big brother and sister-in-law came over to Taronia for a visit. They wanted to see Lucas and you."
"Oh, this is really embarrassing. It's a blessing for my son to know Ivy..." Lucas' mother muttered sheepishly.
Shelly reassured, "Aunty, don't say that. Lucas is outstanding. Otherwise, Ivy wouldn't have fallen for him."
Lucas' mother continued, "I've heard that your family is very wealthy... You won't look down on my son, will you?"
"What matters most to us is a person's character. Please don't worry about Lucas and Ivy; if they genuinely love each other, no one can come between them," Shelly said.
Lucas' mother was grateful. "Thank you... Thank you so much! My biggest concern is my son. I hope you won't look down on him. He has a strong sense of pride."
Hayden took in her frail state and spoke up: "Rest assured. My family and I will never look down on your son."
Shelly agreed with a nod.
Meanwhile, Lucas' father received a call from the hospital. The doctor informed him that Lucas had brought Ivy's family to visit and congratulated him on the impending union with the Foster family.
Mr. Woods was ecstatic upon hearing the news. At a time when the Woods family was facing difficulties, allying with the Foster family would be perfect, and no one would dare to look down on the Woods ever again.
He immediately rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, by the time he arrived, Hayden and the others had already left.
Upon entering the hospital room where Lucas' mother stayed, Mr. Woods asked, "Did Ivy's family visit? What was the purpose of their visit? Did they come to discuss Lucas and Ivy's marriage? It's such an important matter, so why didn't Lucas inform me? I must meet with Ivy's family!"
Her face turned ashen as she replied, "Don't go causing a scene! Lucas has already severed ties with you, so don't go and disrupt his life!"
