"Mr. Woods, I will be the person in charge of all communication from now on," the man said. "You can call me Anson."
"You are older than me, right?" Lucas asked.
"I'm twenty-five this year."
"I'm twenty-three," Lucas said.
Anson chuckled. "All right. You can call me Mr. Orpwood, then. I'll stay here for half a year and leave after that."
"I'm sorry, but I haven't decided if I want to accept this investment."
Anson froze. "This is a lot of money, and you are unsure if you want it?"
He had never met anyone who would refuse money.
"I never thought your boss would invest so much in my company." Lucas put down the contract. "I haven't met your boss in person, so I don't understand why he trusts me so much."
Anson smiled. "To ordinary people, this is indeed a significant amount of money, but this is nothing from my boss's perspective. Don't overthink it."
"There are other shareholders in my company, so it's not just up to me," Lucas countered.
"You mean Caspian? When he picked me up at the airport, we spoke. He seems more enthusiastic about this partnership than you are. Of course, if you want to discuss it with him again, you are free to do so."
"There are many terms in the contract, and I need to study them in detail," Lucas said.
"Sure! You can have a lawyer review it for you."
Lucas nodded. "Yeah."
"Are there any good houses near your company? I'm planning to rent a place nearby," Anson said.
"What's there to think about? I've read through the contract, and there aren't many restrictive clauses. They won't interfere with our work and only require timely reports from us. Lucas, what are you afraid of?" Caspian, overcome with joy, could not quite comprehend Lucas' concerns.
"I never believe that good things just happen by chance."
Caspian's smile faded. "Are you thinking of refusing?"
"I'm not saying I'll refuse. I just need some more time to think it over," Lucas clarified.
"All right, then!" Caspian changed the topic. "Ivy's back in her country, right? Has she contacted you?"
"Why are you asking?"
"I'm just curious! She seems to really like you, and I'm kind of hoping you two can make it work. Her family seems well-off, and if you marry her, you won't have to work so hard."
Lucas frowned. "Aren't you overthinking this? You just said she has a good family background. Do you really think her family would let her marry me? That's wishful thinking!"
