Marley retracted his gaze and fished out a bank card from his pocket.
He threw it on the table. "This is payment for just now."
Then, he headed for the door. When he got to the door, he stopped and said icily, "Know your place."
He slammed the door shut, leaving Cheryl in a mess and silence.
He told her to know her place?
She was just a sex partner who Marley paid for. She looked at the bank card on the table, feeling the humiliation washing over her, telling her how cheap and stupid she was.
She slumped onto the chair and pulled her legs in. She hugged her knees tightly. It seemed that only by doing that could she still feel her heart beating.
"Why? Why have we ended up this way?"
Silence was the only response, leaving her with a feeling of humiliation and shame. She felt trapped, and it was suffocating her.
She wondered when it would all end.
…
Suzanne had been keeping herself busy. In a blink of an eye, it was three days later.
She had just finished work in the evening and was heading to the parking lot in front of Yates Corporation. She looked up at the skies. The sunset had cast a warm orange hue against the blue skies, putting her in a great mood.
Before she could open her car door, a familiar plump figure appeared next to her.
Frankie Lloyd.
Suzanne's gaze darkened, and her mood soured.
Frankie was smiling at her. "Ms. Yates, can we talk?"
Lord knew that he had been trying to reach out to her many times, but he was turned down every single time. Out of desperation, he had no choice but to wait for her by the parking lot.
Suzanne was a little caught off guard by his politeness. A moment later, she nodded and said, "Sure."
What a bold offer.
She smirked and said, "Even if I ask for all of the Lloyd family's assets?"
Frankie looked a little aghast and secretly gritted his teeth. How dare this woman be so greedy? He clenched his fists tightly under the table.
He tried hard to contain the anger in him. All of this was for Todd's health and the future generations of the Lloyd family.
Frankie nodded and replied politely, "If it cheers you up, I'll transfer it all to you immediately."
Suzanne sized Frankie up with mockery gleaming in her eyes.
Immediately?
What a bold answer.
She replied, "Sure. Do it."
