Her Hidden Crowns (Suzanne and Austin) novel Chapter 259

Suzanne picked up her phone and was momentarily stunned. Austin?

The last time they had spoken, she had interrupted him in the middle of a meeting. That embarrassing moment was still fresh in her mind.

She awkwardly touched the dip of her nose, took a deep breath, and answered the video call.

The screen revealed his sharp, defined features—deep-set eyes, a strong nose, and thin lips. As her gaze shifted, Austin's deep voice came through. "What are you doing?"

Gone was his usual cold demeanor. His gaze softened as he looked at her.

Suzanne, with her delicate features, looked charming.

Snapping back to reality, she smiled. "Just finished work. Are you done for the day?"

She had just spoken when she saw him lift a cup of coffee and take a sip. She frowned. "Why are you drinking coffee this late?"

Austin paused, then slowly placed the cup back on the table, a slight smile tugging at his lips. "I still have a few contracts to review."

Suzanne studied his face closely, noticing the traces of fatigue.

Her grip on the phone tightened, the earlier awkwardness dissipating. "Don't stay up too late. It's bad for your health."

Austin's gaze remained on her, growing warmer. "Alright."

He instinctively reached for the coffee again but stopped when he remembered her words. He set it back down.

Suzanne's lips curled into a smile. The atmosphere between them felt much more relaxed than before.

Holding her phone, she walked toward her dressing room.

Setting the phone down on the jewelry counter, she suddenly recalled something and looked at Austin. "About that trending topic from a few days ago… Jenson and I just happened to meet."

She felt the need to explain. Austin was her husband, and she didn't want any misunderstandings between them. Trust was the foundation of their relationship.

Roselynn was young but skilled, with a playful yet genuine personality. Suzanne had grown fond of her. However, since things had been peaceful lately, she hadn't brought her along often. She hesitated to mention that to Austin.

A faint smirk appeared on Austin's lips. "As long as you're satisfied. If you need another, I can arrange it."

He still felt that having just one bodyguard wasn't enough. If something happened, he wouldn't be able to reach her in time.

Suzanne waved her hands quickly. "No, no. One is enough. Roselynn is very capable."

Seeing her slightly exasperated expression, Austin's deep eyes gleamed with amusement. "You're different from most women. Others love having an entourage to boost their status."

But Suzanne found it troublesome.

She shot him a playful glare. "I'd rather go out alone, but you won't let me."

She had always been independent. Having Roselynn around had taken some getting used to. If another bodyguard joined the picture, she would feel even more restricted.
