Her Hidden Crowns (Suzanne and Austin) novel Chapter 238

Jenson smiled softly as he looked at Suzanne, his tone warm and gentle. "Suzanne, you've been so busy at work lately. I noticed you haven't been replying to my messages."

He stood up and politely pulled out a chair for her, the picture of a perfect gentleman. Suzanne glanced at him but said nothing as she sat down.

Jenson had been reaching out to her more frequently these past few days, and Suzanne knew it wasn't for no reason. She didn't bother with small talk and cut straight to the point. She asked, "What do you want?"

She wasn't naive enough to think Seline had gone through all this trouble just so Jenson could have coffee with her.

Suzanne's cold demeanor didn't sit well with Jenson. A flicker of irritation crossed his eyes, but he quickly masked it with a smile. He sat back down and slid a cup of coffee toward her.

"It's been a while since we've spent time together," he said smoothly. "How about dinner tonight?"

In the past, all it took was a dinner invitation to win Suzanne over. Jenson assumed it would work this time too, but he was wrong.

"No thanks," Suzanne replied flatly.

She wasn't falling for it. Jenson didn't do anything without an ulterior motive, and Suzanne knew better than to think this dinner would be any different.

Jenson's smile faltered. He leaned back in his chair, trying to keep his tone light. "Suzanne, my last project just wrapped up, so I have some free time now. Once I start filming again, I won't be able to see you as much."

He remembered how Suzanne used to complain about him never having time for her. Surely, she'd appreciate the effort now. But Suzanne just stared at him, a wave of disgust rising in her chest.

Was she giving Jenson an attitude? That had to be the joke of the year. Did Jenson really think he had any right to expect that from her now?

Jenson tried to rein in his temper. He forced a smile, and his tone softened as if he were talking to a stubborn child. "Suzanne, let's not make a big deal out of this. We've had our disagreements, but how about you take a look at some scripts for me? We can patch things up, okay?"

He reached out, trying to place a hand on her shoulder. But before he could touch her, Suzanne slapped his hand away.

The sharp sound echoed through the quiet space, and Jenson's hand stung from the impact.

Her gaze was ice-cold as she set her cup down on the table with a loud thud. So, this was what Jenson had been waiting for?
