Lily couldn’t clearly see Tetence’s expression, but she could feel the intensity and directress in his gaze. Tetence left after setting down the glass of water. 

Lale lay on the couch, lest in thought. She wasn’t going to go see Xavier. Even if it meant there was a slim chance she could continue in the competition if she saw him, she refused to go. 

The feeling of being led around by the nose was unpleasant. 

Although Lily had never worked before this, she understood the wickedness of wealth. She wasn’t willing to accept that she couldn’t win the tight, but she had to put her feelings aside until after the divorce. Then she could start all over again. 

Lily just had to wait until they no longer cared to bother her amore. It she could endure and wait for so long, it was nothing to make Xavier wait one night. Lily turned off her phone and finished the glass of water. She went into the room, collapsed next to Maryanne, and fell asleep immediately. 

Before Lily’s alarm even sang the next moming, she was woken up by Maryanne. 

“Lily! It’s snowing! It’s snowing so heavily!” Maryanne ran in from the living room and yanked the curtains open. 

The dimly lit room became bright instantly, and Lily was blinded by the sunlight and refracted light in the room. 

She propped herself up on her elbows and shielded her eyes to look outside. The branches outside were laden with thick snow, and large snowflakes were still falling 

Lily pulled out her phone from under the pillow, tumed it on, and saw that it wasn’t even 7:00a.m. vet. She threw herself back into the blanket and said, “Have you never seen snow before?” 

“The last time it snowed, I was having a cold, and they wouldn’t let me go outside to play. I can do it today! Maryanne jumped onto the bed and tugged on Lily with all her might. “Take the day off today, and we’ll go play in the snow now. How about it?” 

Still buried under the blanket, Lily gave a muffled reply, “I need to go to work You can go play by yourself.” 

The roads would be hard to navigate in the snow, and it would take at least an hour and a half to get to work from here. 

Lily used the force of Maryanne’s tugging to get up. She tidied up her messy long hair and tumed to search through her luggage for her clothes. 

“Can you place my luggage in your car and take it to your place later? I’ll try to get off work early tonight and pick it up from you,” Lily said. 

“Okay then. We’ll drop you off at work later,” Maryanne said, feeling sorry for Lily, “I’ll pick you up from work and send you home. I’m free anyway. You’ll be tired after a full day, so don’t go anywhere after work 

Lily changed into her clothes and smiled at her. “Maryanne, what do you think you owed me in your past life? 

Maryanne giggled and said, “I don’t owe you anything. I think you’re just lucky to meet me in this lifetime!” 

“Then you must have been very unlucky in your past life, Lily joked as she went into the bathroom to wash up. 

After they had bantered for a while, Terence came and brought them breakfast. They were running out of time and could only eat in the ear on the way to work 

It was just 8:30 am. when they arrived at Lupier’s branch office. Lily said goodbye to them and walked into the mall. As soon as she entered, the mall’s warmth hit ber, and tiny droplets clung to her lashes. 

Her sight was slightly affected, and she only regained her normal vision after nubbing at them. 

Then she realized, maybe it wasn’t that normal. Otherwise, she wouldn’t see Xavier standing right in the middle of the mall’s main hall. 

He was enveloped in the chill of the night’s snow. There was a layer of snow and frost on his black coat that had now melted into beads of water, soaking him. His narrow eyes exuded anger, and he stared sharply at Lily. 

Xavier hadn’t slept all night. He realized Lily wasn’t going to show up after waiting for two hours. It was only 10:00p.m. then, which wasn’t very late, but be had been too angry to sleep the rest of the night.
