Chapter 193
“Did you all Xavier here?” Lily slowly pieced it together. “What did you say to him?”
Hazel froze momentarily, then instinctively replied, “I just went to buy breakfast and ran into him. I told him you were sick, and he was worried, so he came to check on you.”
Xavier was worried? Lily didn’t believe a word of it.
Her face darkened. “Mom, if you don’t want things to worsen between me and Xavier, stop interfering in our affairs.”
“I” Hazel couldn’t admit that she had tricked Xavier into coming
She sat down beside Lily. “I understand. I won’t bring it up again. Are you feeling any worse? Any nausea or stomach issues?”
Lily pulled herself deeper into her coat, closing her eyes dismissively. “No.”
Seeing that she wasn’t interested in talking, Hazel fell silent,
After the IV was finished, it was already 10:00 am. She was about to leave the hospital when she suddenly remembered she had promised to help Rowan treat Hayden the night before. She had forgotten about it due to Hazel’s interference.
She quickly rushed upstairs to find Rowan.
In Rowan’s office, she arrived breathlessly, having hurried over. Holding a cold cup of coffee, he looked distracted.
“Ms. Joyner, I… I was supposed to-
“I’m sorry, I had something come up last night and forgot to come. It wasn’t intentional. Please don’t be upset!” Lily bent slightly in apology.
After a few seconds of silence, the nervous look on Rowan’s face disappeared.
The afternoon before, he had experimented and ran into some issues after dinner. He had been busy until late, dealing with everything.
He had planned to devise an excuse to explain, but she didn’t show up either.
“It’s fine. I just planned the treatment last night. Take a look. If it works for you, we can start tonight,” he said, handing her the treatment plan.
She took it, flipped through two pages, then closed it again. It was filled with medical terms she couldn’t understand, so she decided not to try figuring it
out.
“I’ll definitely be there at 8:00 p.in. tonight.”
“Alright. Set an alarm to be safe,” he said, already setting his own. Lily also set an alarm before leaving
Hazel had been silently watching from the side. She didn’t bring up the topic of money, so she remained quiet. Once they left Rowan’s office, she asked, ” How will we treat Hayden?”
“Dr. Blackwood has his own methods. We just need to cooperate,” Lily said, her voice still a bit congested.
She pressed the down button for the elevator and looked at Hazel. “Has the house been sold?”
Hazel looked away, shaking her head. “Your father kicked me out, so how would I know if he’s sold it?”
Lily fell silent.
“He doesn’t listen to advice, so you should reconsider the divorce. He came to see you when you were sick, which shows he cares. Maybe just admit your mistake. Otherwise, what will happen to Hayden if he doesn’t sell the house and you divorce?”
Hazel blinked repeatedly, trying to shed some tears, but only reddened her eyes.
“Instead of advising me, you should go to the agency and list the house for sale.”
Lily wasn’t in a rush What if Bobby really didn’t sell the house?
That house was in a good location and would easily sell for a reasonable price. It would be more than enough for Hayden’s treatment.
He was holding out on selling right now, but if she divorced Xavier for real, he could sell it later. However, selling in a hurry would definitely mean getting much less money.
