Chapter 168 

“Okay. I will investigate now.” Jasmine took the money and ran off. 

Sarah wasn’t worried that Jasmine would do nothing after taking the money. After all, greedy people would always be fixated on money. 

Lily went looking for Xander after she had paid the fees, but his office was already empty. In the end, she had been one step too late. She was disappointed and turned to look at the direction Hayden’s hospital room was in 

She wondered if Hayden’s condition had improved, but without the doctor’s approval, she didn’t dare to visit him privately. Lily could only turn around and leave. 

The elevator at the end of the corridor was on the top floor. She pressed the down button and waited. Before she could enter, she heard a familiar male 

voice. 

“Dr. Blackwood, don’t forget that you owe me a favor.” It was Terence, whom she had just parted from. 

Next to Terence was a doctor in a white coat with black–rimmed glasses. He looked fair and clean. When they noticed that someone was outside the elevator, they looked toward Lily in unison. 

Terence was just as surprised. “Lily, what a coincidence.” 

“I’m here to pay Hayden’s medical expenses,” Lily said as she entered the elevator. She nodded politely at Rowan. She didn’t ask what Terence was here 

for. 

But for Terence, Lily came at the right time. He said, “Dr. Blackwood, this is the older sister of the patient I told you about. Her brother is in this hospital, you can access his records and take a look at his condition.” 

Lily looked at Terence in confusion. Terence leaned slightly toward her and whispered, “This is Dr. Blackwood, who just returned from studying abroad. 

“He doesn’t have much clinical experience, but he has made several international breakthroughs in mental and psychological illnesses. I think he might be able to help you” 

He had contacted Rowan several times before this, but Rowan had always refused with the excuse that he had matters to attend to. 

Terence had even planned to travel abroad to look for Rowan in person but suddenly found out that Rowan had returned. 

Terence never told Lily about Rowan as he wasn’t sure if Rowan would agree. He didn’t want Lily to be disappointed. 

“Really?” Since Lily trusted Terence, she believed in Rowan too. “If I could trouble you, Dr. Blackwood, my brother is Hayden Joyner.” 

Rowan wasn’t the one who decided who he would be treating. All of his expenses depended on Xavier. Just as he was about to decline Terence’s request, he heard Lily’s introduction. Rowan pushed his glasses down slightly and looked at Lily closely. 

“Come again?” Rowan asked. 

“Hayden Joyner,” Lily repeated. 

Rowan’s eyes widened in realization. 

Terence had rescued Rowan before in an expedition abroad. He knew that a life–saving grace must be repaid, but with his medical skills, there was nothing much he could do. 

So, Rowan wondered if this was fare giving him a chance to repay Terence. Rowan was torn and hesitant as he wondered if this was improper. 

The elevator reached the first floor. Lily could tell Rowan didn’t want to agree but probably didn’t want to refuse with her around. She said, “Please take your time to consider it, Dr. Blackwood. You can give us your answer later.” 

Lily walked out of the elevator with that, and she smiled at Terence. “Terence, let me know after Dr. Blackwood gives us his answer. I’ll be leaving now.” “Okay,” Terence said. He had wanted to trade favors, but he worried that Lily would feel too indebted. 

Once Lily was out of sight, he said to Rowan, “Dr. Blackwood, I’m not asking you to cure Hayden. I just need you to do your best. You can consider your favor to be written off, and I’ll be the one owing you.” 

Rowan’s eyes lit up. Xavier had said that people should learn to adapt and take advantage of opportunities when possible. 

And since this could help others, lessen his troubles, and bring some joy, Rowan didn’t see a problem in helping “It’s a deal,” Rowan said.
