Chapter 160
Lily was always looking for opportunities to get to the top and was constantly protesting, eager to let everyone know she was Xavier’s wife.
She dreamt of being publicly acknowledged by him, yet she was out at an exhibition with another man with her identity as Mrs. Fulton, Xavier felt as though Lily was treating him like a fool.
Lily lightly brushed her fingers over where he had gripped so painfully earlier. She wondered if Xavier saw her as an irrational, troublemaking perse Perhaps he didn’t know she already had evidence of him with Sarah together.
After some thought, Lily saved the recently received photos together with the ones she had gathered before.
Even the calmes of people would retaliate when pushed too far, but Lily wasn’t at that point just yet.
The argument with Xavier had completely ruined her mood to enjoy the snowy scenery. Since she had already rejected the Glenview Villa project, she decided to ask Nadia for other tasks.
However, it appeared that with working from home, many people were slacking off. Nadia didn’t reply to her message for a long while.
She lowered her head to continue with her studies but found herself too distracted to focus. While her thoughts wandered, a new email notification suddenly popped up in the bottom right corner of her computer. It was from the Avelon Designs Competition.
The subject of the email read, “Congratulations, you have passed the preliminary round.”
Lily clicked it open immediately. The email made no mention of the previous elimination notice that she had received. It contained feedback on her design from several judges and another reminder of some of the rules for the next round of the competition.
For a moment, she suspected it was a scam. She called the official number to confirm the authenticity of the matter, “Hello, could you please help me check my competition results?”
A mechanical female voice instructed her to input her competition number. Five seconds after she did, the other side replied, “Congratulations, Ms. Lily Joyner, on passing the first round of the Avelon Designs Competition. Please pay attention to your email promptly. Do read through the rules for the second round
Whatever the reason, Lily was delighted. She immediately sent Terence a screenshot of the email and wrote, “Terence, I passed the preliminary round! Perhaps the elimination notice from the last email was a mistake,”
She had just sent the message when she saw the chat window conveniently showing that Terence was typing
Terence replied, “Congratulations! I knew you could do it. Keep it up.”
The earlier gloomy mood was swept away in an instant, and she quickly started her preparations for the second round of the competition until Nadia replied to her message, “Did Ms. Lynde really agree to take you off the Glenview Villa project?”
Lily replied with a simple “yes“.
Nadia seemed very busy and didn’t press for more details. She wrote instead, “I’ve sent a few designs to your email. You can refine them, and we will discuss them in the office tomorrow if there’s anything else.”
k first
Lily received several design drafts in her email soon enough. She had no choice but to put the competition on hold and deal with her work
By the time she was done with her work, only then did she notice that she was extremely hungry. Then she realized it was already three in the afternoon. Xavier never returned downstairs after their unpleasant parting. She didn’t know if he was still busy with work or had gone to rest.
Lily thought that Xavier’s body wouldn’t be able to handle it if he hadn’t eaten the whole day. Even resting wouldn’t help.
She pressed her lips together and glanced toward the staircase. After a few moments of silence, she got up and headed upstairs, treading lightly.
The first room on the right–hand comer of the second floor was the bedroom. The door was tightly shut, as was the study door. Lily paused for a moment before pushing open the bedroom door and walking in.
