As Xavier’s wife, Lily could only tread carefully. 

“Let me tell you, the company places a lot of importance on the Glenview Villa project. Mr. Devereux has just resumed his position as president, and if we love such a big contract, it will affect him. 

“II you don’t want to cause Mr. Devereux any trouble, then finish the project.” 

Natia had no choice but to bring up Terence. 

She used to think that there was something between Lily and Terence. But now that she knew Lily was married, she decided to take a gamble and hope that Lily had some concern for Terence. 

Thankfully, her gamble paid off. 

Lily didn’t try to argue again as she stood in place, contemplating for a long time. Then she spoke again, “I’ll try again.” 

“I’ll help put in a good word for you with Ms. Lynde, but you will need to set up the meeting yourself,” Nadia said and gestured to Lily so she could leave. After Lily left, Nadia immediately called Sarah and said, “Lily has agreed to continue with the design for Glenview Villa, but Sarah… I think she’s quite pitiful.” 

Nadia left it at that, but Sarah immediately picked up on the sympathy in her voice, and she said, “How is she pitiful?” 

“It’s just… Didn’t she say her husband is keeping a mistress? I just saw her with a tom lip, and he was probably the one who bit her. 

“Maybe she met some pervert? I just feel like…” Nadia trailed off, hesitant to express outright sympathy for Lily. After all, she was the one who had wanted Lily gone in the first place. 

On the other end of the line, there was a heavy silence before Sarah replied stiffly, “And you think she’s telling the truth? She has a husband but is behaving suspiciously with your company’s Mr. Devereux. What’s there to pity about someone like that?” 

“You mean she’s the one cheating?” Nadia was surprised. 

“I think she’s not the type to stay in her lane!” Sarah said, trying to brainwash Nadia. “Don’t let her fool you, she’s probably just playing tricks to stay. Nadia took in a deep breath when she heard what Sarah had to say. “I almost fell for it, to feel sorry for her. I even thought I was being too hard on her.” Nadia’s tone shifted quickly enough, and Sarah was satisfied. She said, “I’m only making things difficult for her because of you. If you end up thinking I’m being unreasonable, then you would really be letting me down.” 

“Sarah, that’s not what I meant!” Nadia quickly explained. “I’m just the type of person who can’t make decisions on my own. 

“On principle, I hate people who get ahead through backdoor dealings, and I would never tolerate something like that. It’s my fault this time- 

Sarah interrupted her and asked, “Did you add the designer’s contact?” 

She subtly reminded Nadia about the designer’s contact she had given Nadia before. Nadia had said she would listen to her instructions, and it has been a lew days since 

Nadia was even more embarrassed. “Yes! Since you reminded me, I have a design I would like to discuss with her.” 

“Then you can get back to work,” Sarah said and hung up the phone. 

Nadia felt an uncomfortable mix of anxiety and restlessness. She was reluctant to humble herself to initiate a discussion with the designer. The other person didn’t seem like the type to make the first move either. 

As a result, after the initial introductions and small talk, Nadia didn’t send any more messages to the designer for a few days. 

However, since the other party didn’t really know who she really was, Nadia decided to let go of her pride, and she sent another message to the designer. Nadia texted, “I apologize for disturbing you, but may I know how I should address you? You can call me Nash.” 

Nadia had a professional alias in the industry, and not many knew of her real name. So she decided to go with a simple alias, confident that the other person could not guess it was her. 

Lily had just returned to her desk when she saw Nadia’s message, and she was dumbfounded. She wasn’t fond of Nadia, but she didn’t dislike her either. After some deliberation, Lily responded to Nadia’s message, saying, “Just call me Layla.” 

When Nadia saw the name, she immediately searched online for a designer with the alias “Layla“. But the search came up empty, and Nadia was convinced that this person must be some kind of high–profile professional hiding under a pseudonym. 

Nadia directly sent Lily the new design plans for Glenview Villa. “This is the new layout to Glenview Villa, which you had designed for previously. Comparing this design to yours, which do you think is better?”
