Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 982

Caleb's mind was all over the place when he saw Luther and Cecily entering the office together. He recalled Shannon saying how Ziva's voice and eyes bore a resemblance to Cecily's, or how Shannon asked whether he had gotten injured before Ziva.

Everything that he used to rebuke and deny out of instinct became crystal clear at that point. A trail of chillness engulfed him from his feet as he stared fixedly at the two. "You guys… did this to me? Ziva!"

Though Caleb had the answers to his questions, he still confronted her. "What did you do to me? Why did everyone think he was me?"

Ziva looked at him and was kind enough to tell him the truth. When she spoke, her voice was almost identical to Cecily's in the past.

"It's just the Art of Fate-Swapping. Once it's done, you'll remain as you are, but in the eyes of everyone, you're someone else. Normally, this dark arts technique doesn't take this fast to manifest, but the rejection you receive from everyone around you becomes the catalyst.

"When the people closest to you start to doubt your existence, you become another person."

Caleb felt his mind buzzing as if his head was about to explode. Out of instinct, he recalled all the doubts cast in his way lately.

"Who the hell are you?"

"You are?"

"You look nothing like the old you."

After the gift-giving incident last night, his family looked at him full of doubts and aversion, despite not reprimanding him. Was it because of that that fastened the so-called fate-swapping process between him and Luther?

Caleb refused to believe this was his own doing. What troubled him even more was why Ziva did this to him. "Wasn't I good to you?"

Immediately after his question, he realized how stupid it was. Wasn't he good to Cecily as well? In fact, he treated Cecily a thousand-fold better than Ziva. But what did that get him? A five-day entrapment inside a doll with no hesitation or remorse.

If Cecily could do that, well, so could Ziva.

Subsequently, Luther ordered them to abandon Caleb on the mountainside in the dead of night.

Caleb planned to use his phone to call for help yet realized his device had turned into Luther's at some point. Even if he dialed the numbers he had memorized, he was immediately dismissed as a lunatic, and the call was abruptly ended as soon as he spoke.

That night, he endured the biting cold wind, walking through the small hours of the morning until he finally caught a ride with a kind stranger, who drove him back to the city.

He naturally wouldn't give up so easily.

For the next two weeks, he staked out at the Jensen residence to meet Scott and his parents. However, none of them recognized him.

His next course of action was to stake out for Shannon. He believed that Shannon was the only one in the world who could recognize him.
