Shannon raised her hand calmly to form a spiritual energy barrier that deflected the shards. Then, she sent them hurtling toward Ziva.
"Ah!" Ziva cried out in pain as she covered her face and jerked her head to one side. When she turned back, a thin line of blood marked her cheeks.
She stared at the blood on her fingertips and looked at Shannon in disbelief.
Under her stunned gaze, Shannon formed a mudra and felt the faint pull in the air fade away. Then, she turned to Ziva coldly.
"Your power of words is indeed powerful, but it doesn't make you someone who can control everything. Especially when I'm a mystic master."
There was a mix of fear and jealousy in Ziva's eyes as she heard the words.
Shannon continued, "A word of advice for you, every ability comes with a price. If you continue to misuse yours to harm others, the backlash you'll face in the future won't just be a damaged throat."
Ziva grew dissatisfied. She was about to retort when a knock came at the door.
They were meeting in a secluded private room that was typically undisturbed, but the loud explosion of the lightbulb had drawn the attention of the attendant to inquire what was going on.
Before the two could respond, the door was pushed open, and Caleb entered. His gaze swept over the room as he frowned, while the attendant staggered backward.
Though the attendant had barely stopped herself from screaming, Ziva sharply noticed the horror in her eyes.
Her heart clenched, and she grabbed her mask and quickly put it back on. Then, she got up and announced, "I'm leaving."
He took one look at the scene and immediately understood what was going on. Shaking, he apologized and promised to cover all medical expenses and compensation.
Before either Shannon or Ziva could respond, Caleb snapped, "I never said anything about wanting compensation!"
Shannon was utterly baffled. Though she hadn't planned on demanding compensation, she disliked being spoken for.
The manager maintained his polite demeanor despite being rebuffed. He followed up with another series of apologies and stated.
"Don't worry, Mr. Jensen. The restaurant will take full responsibility for tonight's incident. We will ensure this young lady receives medical treatment for her injury and guarantee no scars."
As he spoke, he failed to notice the frantic signals from the attendant.
