Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 956

Shannon had planned to stay on campus for the weekend, but she decided to make a trip home after thinking about Clara.

She arrived in the early evening. The garden of the Jensen residence basked in the glow of the setting sun, and the light almost blurred her eyes as she got out of the car.

In the garden, Marie sat on a wooden chair and leaned forward to comb Marshmallow's fur as it sprawled on a table.

She found her posture uncomfortable and attempted to negotiate with Marshmallow. "Marshy, why don't you come up to my lap? It'll be easier for me to comb you."

Marshmallow turned its head arrogantly and refused to move even an inch.

Beside them, Eva joined in and corrected Marie with a serious expression. "Grandma, its name isn't Marshy. It's Princess Marshmallow!"

"Yes it is, but Marshy is its nickname. Now hurry away. Go inside and eat some snacks." Marie shooed Eva away.

After being dismissed, Eva pouted and turned away. She noticed Shannon standing at the garden gate, and her expression instantly brightened.

She lifted her dress and skipped excitedly over. Then, she complained, "Shannon, Grandma's been hogging Princess Marshmallow all the time lately!"

As she whined, Marshmallow seemed to catch Shannon's scent. But instead of running toward her like before, it slowly rose from the table.

It ignored Marie and raised its chin high. Then, it gracefully strutted toward Shannon.

Shannon immediately knew it must've been up to something while she was away, but she was surprised by Marie's behavior. Didn't she claim to dislike all furry animals?

She was holding a small woven basket containing the tortoise and couldn't immediately reach out to hug Marshmallow.

Marshmallow took a few quick steps forward before leaping up and biting the basket in her hand. And as Shannon let go, it sent the basket and the tortoise flying through the air.

Once Shannon's hands were empty, Marshmallow proudly clawed at her pants to climb onto her legs and settle in her arms.

Marie watched the scene, and her expression was a mix of complication and embarrassment.

"It's all because of Ziva. Who knows what she said to him? But whatever it was, it made him drop the charges against the two."

After venting, Scott seemed to realize he might've been too harsh in criticizing Caleb. He hastily added, "But the good thing is that he remembers the two million dollar compensation."

Shannon could barely hold back from throwing hands at the mention of Ziva again. She had no idea what the latter was planning in getting close to Caleb.

If Ziva's motives were self-serving, it wouldn't be that concerning. But she was inclined to display her power of words in the most random situations.

Yes, Shannon believed Ziva was displaying her power of words.

Whether it was persuading Marie to change her stance on Cecily or convincing Caleb to withdraw the lawsuit, these actions didn't seem born of goodwill. Instead, it felt like she was trying to showcase her uniqueness on purpose.

It felt almost as if she were a deity standing high above them and casually using her abilities to toy with mortals.
