In the spiritual realm, the blood drops infused with spiritual energy came into contact with the evil spirits, and they immediately screamed as if they were burned alive.
The player outside the barrier stared at the whimpering evil spirits and was completely dumbfounded.
"Get back in!" Shannon bellowed. But the player stood still in shock and didn't move until another wave of evil spirits began charging toward him.
Behind him, Clara and Scott burst out of the barrier and yanked the player back inside. Clara raised her hand and slapped him hard. "If you want to die, don't drag us down with you!"
Scott was equally furious. He shouted, "Who the hell told you to go out? If you want to get yourself killed, do it somewhere else!"
The player looked dazed. He had no idea how he'd even gone out in the first place.
Meanwhile, Ziva noticed that not only her plan had failed to divert the evil spirits' attention, but it'd also gotten Shannon hurt. A flash of guilt crossed her eyes, and she was confused.
Why did Shannon have to save him? What a waste of effort.
…
Scott couldn't resist fighting the player and got pulled away by Calvin. Though he'd vented his rage, he couldn't shake the worry gnawing at him.
He turned back to the edge of the barrier to check on the scene.
Shannon's left hand was stained with blood after the incision. Blood dripped steadily as she formed mudras with one hand.
Scott was stunned. Calvin loosened his grip and swiftly drew an army knife from his boot. The steel gleamed sharply under the dim light, and Scott's utility knife looked more like a toy compared to it.
As Scott froze, Calvin grew impatient and snatched at the utility knife. Scott dodged and muttered, "Hold on. I have another talisman."
He handed over an attacking talisman, and Calvin wrapped it around the hilt of his army knife just like the former had done. Then, he signaled Scott to stay behind as he moved forward.
Scott ignored his command and rushed out right behind. He wielded his utility knife and slashed at one of the evil spirits near Shannon.
The spirit screamed in pain, only to realize that the injury was minor and didn't hurt as much. It turned its attention back to Scott and was ready to pounce.
Shannon quickly shouted, "Use your blood!"
