In an apartment in Seastone, Camryn and Marshall Teague sat at a desk and stared nervously at the monitor.
They'd just heard Shannon's warning to the camera, and both of them swallowed hard.
"She… She can't possibly find us here, can she?" Camryn asked uneasily. Marshall, next to him, scoffed.
"No way! No one can track my location. She's just trying to scare us and hope we'll slip up," he said with conviction.
"But she does seem to know her stuff in the mystic arts…" Camryn murmured anxiously.
After his breakup, he'd secretly looked into how Mandy had caught him with his mistress. He'd later found out it was Shannon who'd tracked the location of his ring and led her straight to him.
Part of the reason Camryn had devised this scheme was not just to avoid paying two million but also to take a bit of revenge on Shannon. He figured no one would ever suspect him if he was skilled enough.
Marshall was momentarily shaken by Camryn's words as he recalled the rumors he'd heard online about Shannon.
"It'll be fine. Didn't she just say she tracks malice? We haven't done anything malicious to her," he said, reassuring himself.
All they wanted was to put some pressure on Caleb, so how could that be considered malicious?
Camryn, who was in fact harboring slight malicious intent, said, "I think we should just disconnect the Internet for now."
And without waiting for Marshall's response, he got up and yanked the network cable out of the router.
Marshall was utterly speechless. When had anyone said anything about disconnecting the Internet and making them untraceable? That was like washing a knife after a crime and pretending it hadn't happened.
But he let it slide. He was feeling a little unsettled too.
"Aren't you three leaving?" she asked.
The three of them looked at her and asked, "Can we stay?"
Shannon didn't mind the cameramen but looked at Eddie. "Just don't get scared," she warned.
Then, she activated the talisman and summoned two ghostly shadows that'd been hiding in her bag. "Alright, I need help finding someone. Who's going?"
Leah eagerly raised her hand upon hearing that there was a task. "Me! I'll go!"
Though Peanut couldn't talk, it bobbed up and down excitedly and signaled its willingness to help. While doing so, it nudged Leah and tried to claim the task for itself.
Leah would never trust Peanut to go itself. She quickly chimed in, "We'll go together! I'll watch over it!"
