Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 846

"Mr. Caleb Jensen! Is that you?" the woman yelled with a trembling voice before floating… No—walking toward the car and leaning against the bonnet.

At last, Caleb recognized her as the woman who bullied Ziva at the warehouse. If his memory served him right, the woman was… Dixie. She was a human, not a ghost.

He secretly heaved a breath of relief and then became somewhat annoyed. Why was she blocking him out of the blue?

"What's wrong with you? Get off the road! Are you trying to kill yourself?" the chauffeur shouted at her after rolling down the window.

Dixie hurriedly arrived beside the car and stared pitifully at Caleb. "Mr. Jensen, you misunderstood me at the warehouse. I didn't mean to mock Ziva. Mr. Jensen, would you… would you please forgive me?"

Caleb looked at her, his face indifferent. "Alright. Now, go."

She refused to leave just yet. Her voice remained trembling from the cold, making her look pitiful. "Reilly said that if I don't get your forgiveness, he'll bar me from managing all the future projects.

"Mr. Jensen, please. I know you're a good man, and this job means a lot to me. Could you just help me out?"

In reality, Caleb didn't intend to give her a lesson. After all, with his status, her higher-ups would've punished her even without an instruction from him. He didn't suspect whether she was lying either and thought she deserved the punishment for being snobbish and arrogant.

With that said, he couldn't help but feel sympathetic at her begging for his forgiveness under the rain.

"Alright, I'll tell someone to contact Reilly. Now, go on your way." It was still summertime, and Caleb didn't want to continue looking at her drenched dress.

After a pause, he told the chauffeur to give her an umbrella.

Dixie was in utter disbelief. She couldn't believe he had refused to give her a ride after everything she had done! What did she stand in the rain for?

Her plan was to beg for his forgiveness in the rain, move his heart with her resilience and indomitable spirit, win his sympathy, and propose for him to send her home. Once she got into his car, he would take off his jacket and offer it to keep her warm.

Then, she would tell him her family would be worried to see her in such a state so he would ever-so-kindly offer to send her to his place for a night of refuge. After that, she would return his jacket after dry-cleaning it and treat him to a meal…

That was supposed to be the start of their love story. Everything went as planned until the last second, and she couldn't understand what went wrong. Was she not pitiful-looking enough?
