Was he really Benjamin? Nick felt like he shouldn't be there at that moment…
The car maneuvered forward at a consistent speed. Suddenly, Nick slowed down the vehicle and informed, "Mr. Cooper, there seems to be an accident ahead."
At that, Benjamin prepared to tell him to change routes when Shannon piped up. "Can we take a look?"
Nick instinctively looked in the rearview mirror, awaiting Benjamin's permission. After receiving a nod from him, he halted the car by the road. Subsequently, Shannon told Benjamin to stay put while she checked out the accident herself.
The car accident wasn't serious—just a rear-end collision between two cars that then hit the guardrail. The paramedics were carrying the victims into the ambulance, and to Shannon's surprise, she knew both drivers.
One of them was Diego, whom she had just met at the party, while the other was her ex-brother whom she hadn't seen since Rachel's death.
Connor's injuries were mild, leaving him still conscious as he lay on the stretch. It took him a while before he finally recognized the witch as Shannon. Then he shot up agitatedly. "Shannon! Shannon!"
Her motionless figure prompted him to grab a nearby paramedic and point at her, exclaiming, "That's my sister! She's my one and only family member! Let her take me to the hospital! She must come with me!"
The paramedic was clueless. At the sight of Shannon, they scurried over and reiterated the situation to her.
However, Shannon found it ironic that Connor wanted her to go to the hospital with him. She was simply here to check out the accident yet encountered a scam attempt.
"He's mistaken," Shannon stated. Seeing how unconvinced the paramedic was, she explained, "His sister was murdered two months ago. Since then, he thinks everyone is his sister. I suggest you get him a brain MRI after his initial checkup."
Perhaps it was Shannon's overtly serious demeanor that she successfully convinced the paramedic. After apologizing, the paramedic turned around and proceeded with the rescue.
Even when the ambulance drove away, Shannon could hear Connor's distant howling. Ignoring him, she averted to a roadside spot where negative energy gathered; the energy felt familiar.
She wouldn't want to wait by the road in a witch costume, of course.
Once Shannon returned to the car, Benjamin asked, "Something off with the accident?'
"Yeah. The driver had been harassed by a jinx. It's not a big issue." Shannon brushed the matter off and suddenly remembered the other victim, Diego.
Connor got into an accident because of his spilling misfortune caused by the negative energy. So, what happened to Diego? There wasn't any sign of disaster when she saw him earlier at the party, though.
She couldn't decipher the reason, and she didn't want to dwell on it either.
The car started again and headed to another route after making a U-turn. It wasn't until the vehicle drifted into the distance that Rachel's ghost finally came out of hiding…
