Kai was unfazed. "So what if you're an adult? Haven't you heard of the saying?"
"What saying?"
"A man is only as old as he feels!"
Not to mention, spirits like them took longer to reach adulthood, compared to humans. Wasn't it normal to be a decades-old teen?
Elliot was rarely online and knew nothing about Internet slang or memes; at most, he only read about mystic arts when he surfed the Internet.
With that said, Kai's words seemed to make sense. Once Albern returned, he would ask him about it.
If Albern was out of money, Elliot could pay for himself. "I wonder if one million dollars is enough…" he pondered.
…
After Shannon packed her stuff and headed downstairs, she found Elliot no longer shuddering like before. Instead, he and Kai stuck together to browse the Internet.
She looked surprisingly at Mike, asking, "What are they looking at?"
Mike giggled. "They're browsing pet items."
Simply from what he had heard, the list included a hedgehog brush, shampoo, foot care oil…
He believed Elliot had fallen into a rabbit hole.
Meanwhile, Shannon had no complaints as long as that was what Elliot wanted. She told him it was time to set out, and he approved Kai's friend request before leaving.
Once they left the house, they headed straight to the location of the Level One mission posted on MysticApp.
There were three types of missions on the MysticApp.
The first type was requests posted online.
The MysticApp officials would validate whether any malevolent or ghastly energy was detected in the reported incidents. Then, they would upload the details of the request accordingly to MysticApp.
The three rode in the Jensen family's car and arrived in an area.
"There's a tenant who passed away last month. Since this week, the two units above it have been haunted every night. It created commotions, and apparently, the talismans they bought didn't help either."
It was Elliot's first time taking on the role of a senior bringing their juniors on a mission. Although nervous, he fulfilled his responsibility as a senior.
Hearing the description, Mike couldn't help but grimace. "Why does it sound like a fierce ghost? Are you sure this is Level One, Elliot?"
"Y-Yes, it is." Elliot sounded nervous upon being doubted by his junior. "Although there had been commotions, there were no injuries—mostly just pranks."
With that said, they couldn't ignore the matter and hope it would go away. After all, pranks might slowly turn into deliberate attacks.
Shannon glanced at the mission's description and noticed something awry. "Only the units above are harassed, yet its adjacent neighbors are safe. There should be conflicts between them before the tenant's death."
Once the trio arrived at one of the two units whose tenants had been harassed, their words immediately validated Shannon's assumption.
