Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 768

As soon as Elliot entered the room, he was met with many eyes.

He nervously lowered his head and instinctively moved closer to Shannon to softly confirm with her. "Shannon, you mentioned that after I help him, you'll talk to the lecturer so I won't have to appear on the show again, right?"

Shannon had used this as a ploy to coax Elliot and get him to descend the mountains. She hadn't told him that the lecturer had wanted him to join just one episode in the very first place.

She maintained a calm face when she heard his question and showed no sign of embarrassment. Then, she nodded. "Yes, leave it to me."

As Elliot received her reassurance, he relaxed a little and mustered the courage to look at everyone.

Though Mike had been to the Jensen residence once to help, it'd been a quick visit. Now that he had a chance to observe the mansion more closely, he couldn't help clicking his tongue in amazement at how wealthy the Jensens were.

He wondered if he could offer his services in geomancy. That was his specialty after all, but why did the Jensen family not seem to have that particular need?

Just as everyone was settling down, Zane arrived late. He had a mild fever last night, and now he looked visibly weak and sickly.

Though he was just three years older than Hank, it seemed the wind could blow his frail figure away at any moment.

This was exactly why George hadn't opposed Alex's request last night. Zane's condition was indeed concerning.

The moment Zane entered, Elliot and Mike instinctively examined him. They were visibly stunned before turning their attention to Shannon.

Shannon then handed them a piece of red paper from the side. "This has Zane's birth date and astrological houses."

Mike took the paper and glanced at it. He immediately confirmed. "He has a childling's fate!"

Elliot nodded in agreement. "His birth date and astrological houses show that he has a childling's fate."

The Jensens exchanged confused looks and didn't understand what they were saying.

Zane looked up to meet his eyes. His expression was dark, but he didn't deny Elliot's words.

Elliot had heard about Zane's condition from Shannon, who mentioned that Zane was mute. But after taking a closer look, he realized that Zane wasn't mute at all. He could speak.

As for why Zane pretended to be, Elliot had a rough idea.

Childlings would carry karmic debts from birth. As their soul was stronger than that of an average person, their physical body often struggled to bear the weight of their soul which led to frequent illness.

The burden of the karmic debts often made them more susceptible to early death.

In an ancient belief, there was a silent practice that refrained one from speaking to avoid incurring verbal karma. By not speaking, a childling could reduce verbal karma and indirectly extend their lifespan.

That might explain why Zane had managed to survive into his 20s despite his constant illnesses.
