At the Cooper residence, Benjamin received a text from Hector the moment Shannon began casting her spell against Cecily.
The message was clear that no matter what happened or what noise he heard, he was not to approach or disturb Shannon.
Benjamin knew something major was happening with the Jensens today. After all, Shannon had come to him to take all the talismans he had and drew several waves of golden light from him.
From that moment, Benjamin understood that whatever Shannon was planning to face was far from ordinary.
Though he knew, there was nothing he could do to help her. All he could do was wait.
But the longer he waited, the more uneasy he became. It was an unfamiliar feeling he'd never experienced before.
Benjamin couldn't shake it off. He decided to take Kai and head toward where Shannon was. He promised that he wouldn't approach, but he had to see her with his own eyes.
They got into a patrol car and drove off. Halfway there, Benjamin noticed a familiar gathering of dark clouds in the sky.
Kai suddenly leaped out of the car and clutched it in a panic.
"No! We can't go any further! I'll die if we do!" Kai screamed and held onto the car so tightly that they could not go forward any further.
He was trembling so hard that he nearly bent the frame.
"That's the heavenly thunder, and it's not just any heavenly thunder. She's so strong, and she doesn't need me. What if the thunder strikes me if I get any closer?"
Heavenly thunder was known to conflict with all malevolent beings, and though Kai wanted to transform into a dragon through the calamity lightning, he knew the difference between lightning that could complete his transformation or reduce him to ashes.
And this was clearly the latter.
The purple lightning talisman was her ultimate attack. But now that it was barely effective, she had to brace herself and push through it.
Blood rose in her throat, but she swallowed it back down. Her face was pale as she prepared to unleash another attack.
Boom! Another bolt of purple lightning tore through the sky, but more fire thunder followed in its wake. This time, one of the fire thunderbolts was heading toward Shannon.
"Shannon!" Mitchell and the others paled at the sight, while Hector and Adam couldn't hold back from rushing out of the villa, but they were too far to reach her in time.
No matter how fast they were, they couldn't outrun the fire thunder speeding toward Shannon.
Shannon looked up at the incoming fire thunder as the bright light filled her vision and drowned out all the sound around her.
She didn't dodge, and there was no time to escape.
