Adrian gave a stern look and waved to dismiss Scott and Eva.
Eva followed him to the main hall and saw Annalise and Lucas arrive as well.
Hank and Cecily were present since it was the weekend, and now Annalise's family was complete.
Shannon glanced at Alex who sat quietly on the side and immediately guessed the topic of today's gathering.
Sure enough, he spoke as soon as everyone was present, "Linda and I… have decided to get a divorce. Once the lawyers finalize the division of assets, we'll file for a divorce. Hank and Eva will stay with me."
Although Alex's voice was soft, his words were like a bomb on the Jensens.
Hank shot up from his seat with disbelief written all over his face. Aside from Adam and Shannon, everyone else seemed utterly stunned by the announcement.
"Divorce? Why would you get a divorce out of nowhere?" Marie was the first to react. She slammed her hand on the armrest of her wheelchair with a furious expression.
It wasn't that she wasn't particularly fond of Linda. She'd opposed Alex marrying a woman from the entertainment industry in the first place, but he'd insisted on marrying Linda in the name of true love.
He'd caused a big commotion to finally get to marry Linda. Now after all these years when the family had finally accepted her, he wanted a divorce.
Though George looked displeased, his reaction wasn't as volatile as Marie's. His aged eyes glanced at Alex as he asked in a calm voice, "Why do you want a divorce?"
"Incompatibility." Alex gave a rehearsed answer.
There was no way he could tell them that Linda had coveted Adam for years.
George snorted coldly at the explanation. Was Alex taking them all for fools? They had two children together, and now they were suddenly saying that they were incompatible.
Linda had no choice but to turn to Marie and George, "Marie, could you please talk to Alex? I don't want a divorce…"
Marie was annoyed by her tearful pleas, but she couldn't tell who was at fault in this situation. Still, her instincts told her it must be Linda, or why would she be crying and refusing to get a divorce?
Marie remained silent and turned her gaze toward Alex. The final decision lay with him in such an important matter.
George didn't look at Alex or Linda. Instead, he turned to Adam, who had been sitting quietly since the beginning.
He asked in a deep voice, "Adam, you're the eldest. What's your opinion on this?"
Adam looked up unhurriedly. His legs casually crossed as they switched their position.
His tone was calm, but his words carried his intent that the decision was made. "Since they're incompatible, there's no need to force it. The sooner they get divorced, the better."
