Alex panicked when he heard the second option Adam had proposed.
After some time, he choked out in a strained voice, "Adam…"
Despite being a middle-aged man, there was a hint of helplessness in his tone as he called for Adam, but the latter remained unfazed.
"If you decide to get a family division with her from now on, don't bother calling me your brother."
Adan had always been a man of strong principles. He wouldn't have been that disgusted if it had been any other woman involved today.
Now that he knew Linda's intentions, he'd never allow her to stay in the Jensen family even if she never acted on them.
If Alex couldn't bear to let go of Linda, Adam would cut ties with them. If the former could carry on with Linda without a second thought after what had happened today, Adam figured he was better off without such a foolish brother.
Every head of the Jensens shared the same firm approach to handling matters. If a family could compromise on something as fundamental as moral integrity, any principle could be broken in the future.
This decision was final.
Linda hadn't expected Adam to be so ruthless. He was even willing to sever ties with Alex just to cut her off.
She struggled to raise her head and look at Adam who stood there like an imposing deity. Even now, there was a flicker of hope in her heart.
Alex wouldn't divorce her. As long as he didn't divorce her for the sake of their children, she would still remain the second daughter-in-law of the Jensens.
"With Mr. Jensen Senior around, a family division is not possible," she said. This was something George had personally stated, and it was a long-standing rule of the Jensens.
Linda knew that while George appeared kind, he was strict about family rules.
Linda had feelings for someone else, and that man was Adam, his brother! She must've struggled so hard to hide it from him.
And what had she said?
"There was never any love between me and Alex. I just couldn't turn him down back then.
"Alex has a lover. There's no use calling us a couple.
"You've always been in my heart. I know we can't be together, so I've been suppressing my feelings for so many years."
Alex had always known he was no match for Adam. When he had chosen to pursue music, it'd somehow been a way to avoid being overshadowed.
He believed that they wouldn't be compared as long as they didn't stand in the same place.
