Yolanda listened to Chelsea's words and finally pulled her into her arms. At last, she set aside her dignity and embraced her daughter, sobbing uncontrollably.
The crew at the scene discreetly wiped away their tears, while the livestream chat overflowed with crying emoticons. Even Olivia turned her head to dry her eyes.
Shannon, on the other hand, didn't seem to have much emotion and merely watched silently. It wasn't until the mother and daughter calmed down that she steered back to the main topic.
"No ordinary people would resort to the Art of Longevity to save a person. So, how did you do it? Who helped you?"
Drying her eyes, Chelsea gazed at Shannon, the "expert" in mystic arts, and didn't disregard her because of her young age. Instead, she replied to her solemnly, this time with another story.
…
"As you said, Ms. Jensen, I found out Ms. Torres was suffering from bone cancer and became frantic yet helpless… Things changed until I saved a rat." Chelsea looked rather awkward. She glanced hesitatingly at the camera and eventually clarified, "More accurately, a r-rat demon."
The cast members subconsciously straightened up, their expressions turning bewildered. Elliot and Shannon similarly became alert.
Thanks to Yolanda, Chelsea constantly reminded herself to be kind and do charity. After learning about her cancer, she intensified her efforts to do good. Since she couldn't lift Yolanda from her pain, she could only do charity to collect fortune for her.
As she relished in finally being of help to Yolanda, the rat demon reappeared and devilishly told her the harsh truth. Apparently, the array it set up could only be performed on blood-related family members. It was then Chelsea realized Yolanda was her mother.
Even to that moment, Chelsea remained uncertain about the rat demon's intentions in seeking her out a second time. She vividly remembered its sharp, slightly malicious laugh as it taunted, "You suffered in pain for the last 20 years because of her. Now, you've sacrificed 30 years of your lifespan for someone who caused you that pain…
"Hahaha! Do you regret your decision now? Do you regret saving her? Do you hate her now, so much so that you want her to get sick again?"
Chelsea could discreetly feel that it was trying to provoke her. However, at that time, she simply stared at it with a flat face and said, "Not really."
