Were the rumors false?
Adam's friends glanced at the livestream on his tablet screen again and finally realized that was the biological daughter Adam had reunited with recently. She was extraordinary, possessing skills in mystic arts.
Some didn't think much about it, while some were in deep thought and secretly took a mental note of Shannon's name.
Adam was more than happy to show off Shannon. One of his friends had an idea and started mentioning how attractive and smart his son was, hinting at a marriage alliance.
For a family like the Jensens, marriage alliances were common. In their generation, only Adam and Alex married a partner who wasn't from a prestigious family, while Adrian and Annalise did.
Nevertheless, that didn't stop them from seeking marriage candidates for their children.
Adam naturally understood his friend, Chester Abney's words. His countenance was unmoved, and he lightly refused. "My kid is still young. We're in a different era now, anyway. She's already chosen who she likes. I wouldn't want to get involved."
Chester wasn't giving up just yet. "Well, it's normal to date around while she's still young. But who she dates and who she marries are vastly different. You can't take it lightly."
Then, he told him a story about how a wealthy heiress stubbornly married a man who came from a small town, nearly allowing him to jeopardize her family business.
He then told Adam, "Boys and girls are different; girls are easier targets for scammers. You should look out for her as her dad. You can never be too careful."
Adam maintained his serious and imposing demeanor, unbothered by Chester's words. After a brief pause, he slowly unbuttoned his suit jacket and said, "I've met her boyfriend. He's… alright. Right—you guys have probably met him before. It's that boy from the Coopers."
The group was momentarily stunned. They took a while to figure out who "that boy from the Coopers" was. Aside from Benjamin, there were no other younger ones that were compatible in age with Shannon.
The group was speechless once again. It was bright outside, and Adam hadn't even touched his wine. Was he… drunk? Why was he saying stuff like that? Would he call Benjamin "that boy from the Coopers" to his face?
After the luncheon, they returned to their respective hotel rooms. Although Adam appeared serious on the surface, his footsteps noticeably became lighter. When recalling the faces of his old friends earlier, he felt an inexplicable sense of satisfaction.
Now that he thought about it, Benjamin would be a decent candidate as his son-in-law. Seeing how he had exposed Shannon and Benjamin's relationship earlier, he decided to text her and give her a heads-up.
After all, their relationship was only known to family members and not the outside world.
Adam had just fished out his phone when an incoming call came. He frowned at the caller ID, resumed his usual demeanor, and answered the call.
Immediately, Linda's frantic voice rang. "Adam, I'm in Northgate right now. Could you come over and help me?"
