"Can I have some soup tonight, Aunt Linda?" Cecily made up a random request.
Having received her help, Linda immediately agreed. "Of course! I've already told the maid to cook your favorite soup in advance. Wait here; I'll get it for you!"
"Thank you, Aunt Linda. You're the best!" Cecily smiled. Then, the system reported, "Linda Young accepts Cecily's request and agrees to lend three thousand fortune points."
Instantly after that, she saw Linda entering the kitchen and bumping into an oncoming maid holding a bowl of soup.
The two exclaimed, "Ah!"
"Ah! Hot!"
The maid was unscathed while Linda's chest was drenched in soup. The former quickly tidied up the mess and urged Linda to change her clothes upstairs.
Who knew Linda would slip and fall as soon as she took a step against the slippery floor?
The kitchen was in chaos. Another maid came up to help, each holding Linda's side and assisting her up to her room.
Cecily watched as the two maids frantically carried Linda upstairs, wearing a concerned look but with no intention of helping. After all, she was enjoying her creation.
To draw fortune points from a target, the condition was to make a request to the other party at the same time. Any request would do, and as long as the other party agreed, it was considered consent to lend the fortune points.
That was how Cecily utilized the system to draw fortune points from Linda—by simply asking for soup.
One disadvantage of that condition was when the system automatically deducted her affection points if the other party rejected her request; an example was when Hank rejected her last time.
Only when the three went upstairs and disappeared from Cecily's sight did she slowly put away her worried expression. Then, a smile gradually spread across her lips.
"This lady feels similar to those young ladies in wealthy families I've seen. They're two-faced like her!"
Despite her many audio messages, Shannon discovered no important news from her relentless talking. She had long been aware of Cecily's two-faced nature, and it wasn't any breaking news. Rather, she was more curious about what had happened.
To make things convenient, Shannon called Leah, interrupting her endless yapping, and told her to get straight to the point. As such, Leah recounted Cecily's conversation with Linda and how the latter subsequently became unlucky.
At last, she added, "I was watching them from the side and vividly saw a dark cloud appearing above her. It was very sudden."
The emphasis on "sudden" made Shannon think Linda's fortune had declined so rapidly that Leah instantly detected her face of misfortune. "Did Cecily do or say anything peculiar at that time?"
She previously guessed that Caleb's loss of fortune was due to Cecily and her dolls being used as conduits. With the new information, it seemed Cecily could transfer a person's fortune to herself without using conduits…
