While saying that, Shannon added, "I'll make a binding contract with her later. Without my permission, she can't get near you."
Benjamin lightly grunted in response and said, "It's nice for you to have a phantom helper anyway." At least she wouldn't have to face any crises alone.
She thought he meant having a phantom helper would make her look cool, so she explained the issue surrounding phantom helpers.
Having a phantom helper meant she would also oversee their cultivation. That was the main reason she repeatedly rejected Leah, seeing as she could barely manage her own cultivation.
Learning that having a phantom helper required sharing one's spiritual energy for their cultivation, Benjamin, without a second thought, asked, "You have me, don't you?"
He meant using his spiritual energy. Yet, when it came out of his mouth, it sounded rather ambiguous.
Shannon, too, distinctly felt it, especially when their "dating life" had been exposed this morning.
A subtle quiet enveloped the back seat of the car, and it wasn't moments later that Shannon vaguely responded. Then, they stopped talking.
Once they arrived at the airport, she was surprised to see that Benjamin, whom she thought was only here to drop her off, got out of the car with her and entered the departure hall. "You're going back to Seastone with me?"
He glanced at her and nodded. "I'm done with my matters here."
In reality, a dinner gathering awaited him tonight. A government official, responsible for negotiations in his project, was the one who organized the meeting, to which Benjamin agreed to attend.
Unexpectedly, Leah suddenly came looking for him, saying Shannon was in a rush to return to Seastone. Assuming something urgent must've happened, he handed over the socializing role to the project's co-manager and booked the same flight as her.
Upon learning about his sister's sudden return, he lovingly came to pick her up out of concern only to see the couple walking side by side from the VIP lane. Immediately, it felt like his world had darkened, dimming his originally bright smile.
He gazed intently at Benjamin, his eyes glimmering with a flicker of cold light. That audacious man had secretly made a public appearance with Shannon behind his back! How bold!
Hector didn't lash out at him before Shannon. Instead, he quickly regained his composure and approached her with his usual smile. "Shannon, I'm here to pick you up."
Then, he grabbed her backpack and bumped shoulders with Benjamin, casting him away from her side.
Despite Benjamin's cold glare, Hector disregarded his presence. He pulled Shannon to his car with a smile and said, "Let's go home. You must be tired after flying alone. You can take this time to rest. We don't have to rush back to school."
