With a flick of her hand, an invisible red thread instantly wrapped around the voodoo doll at the center of the array.
Meanwhile, in Seastone, Earl could feel his body stiffening and his soul being trapped. A sense of foreboding enveloped him.
He instinctively tried to use his spiritual energy to resist yet spat out a mouthful of blood the next second. With that surge of blood, he looked like he had visibly aged in an instant.
Realizing he was receiving backlash, Earl was grim and enraged, roaring, "How dare a mere child like you trick me!"
Lying in the array, Rachel was close to losing consciousness due to excessive blood loss. In contrast to her initial terror, she only felt despair and hopelessness now, praying that help would come. Yet, amid her daze, she heard Earl's roar.
She opened her eyes with difficulty and saw him tainted with blood. He staggered as if hurriedly trying to escape.
Rachel's eyes lit up, unsure why he was escaping… Wait, did that mean she could leave too?
At that thought, she forced herself to muster her strength. Out of pure unwillingness to face her death, she slowly nudged her body toward the door. "I can't die. I'm still so young. Shannon is well and alive, so why should I die?" she thought.
How could she allow herself to die a miserable death in a rundown house after trampling Shannon under her feet and benefitting from her fate for 18 years?
Despite her hazy mind, Rachel continued to nudge toward that door, blood spilling from the cuts on her wrists. However, she didn't have a choice. She wanted to live.
After ensuring the array had worked, Shannon sent the soul's location to Triston through the MysticApp.
Triston was also one of the agents from the Seastone Security Branch Agency who escorted Winona for her soul-switching procedure. Although surprised by Shannon's method, he didn't question her and quickly deployed force to capture the suspect based on the given location.
According to the Special Security regulations, they were supposed to first head to the initial location where dark arts were performed, then track the lingering energy at the scene to capture the perpetrator.
However, since Shannon had provided real-time tracking, the agents naturally wouldn't take the longer route. Due to that, they failed to discover the almost-sacrificed Rachel.
By the time they caught Earl and returned to the rundown suburban house, Rachel had long lost her life from excessive bleeding.
