Shannon was only 18! What other talents did she have?
She ignored the startled Juniper while shooting the spirit-locking talisman toward the group of ghosts. Then, she swiftly formed a mudra. "Red light glimmers in the land of nine realms. Bind the soul; restrain the spirit. Capture the shadows; let none inherit."
Followed by her clear and piercing voice, the purple spirit-locking talisman glimmered with mystic light. Then, a massive talisman seal materialized in the void, directly pressing down upon the heads of the ghosts.
Leah, whose limbs were held by a few old ghosts, found herself immobilized. When a talisman seal descended from above, pinning her and the surrounding ghosts in place, she was caught off guard and panicked.
"Ms. Jensen… How could you not… tell friend from… foe…"
Shannon simply replied, "It's easier this way."
These ghosts were summoned forcefully against their consciousness and were not considered true, evil spirits. As such, she didn't plan on utilizing a thunder talisman. After subduing the ghosts, she slowly set up her array.
…
In a distant suburb of Seastone, Earl found his instruments placed among the phantom-assassination array shattered from the talisman seal's pressure.
His eyes reddened with sorrow at the sight, as one was a treasured instrument he had worked hard to obtain. Now, it was being destroyed just like that!
"Shannon… You're remarkable. But this isn't the best part yet."
He diverted his attention to the array on the other side of the room. Within it sat a bound Rachel with a face full of terror, while blood dripped from her slit wrists and then to the floor, slowly seeping into the sigil.
Since he couldn't utilize that unique fate for his son, he would transform that into extending his lifespan.
As Earl thought to himself, a sinister glint appeared in his eyes as he waited for the array to take effect and drag Shannon into the abyss. He watched as Rachel's blood slowly seeped into the sigil, anticipating its activation.
A minute went by, then another ten minutes. Finally, 15 minutes had passed.
"What is wrong with this?" Earl darkened his countenance, looking utterly bewildered and confused.
Why the hell was the array not working?
