Cecily had been sitting on the floor, crying and holding her head.
But when she heard the conversation, a flash of panic crossed her eyes.
She quickly composed herself and cried out in a tearful voice, "Hank, you misunderstood. I hurt myself by accident, and Marshmallow didn't hurt me…"
Before she could finish, Scott angrily interrupted her. "If Marshmallow didn't hurt you, why were you saying all that nonsense about not blaming it?"
The system's cold voice rang out in Cecily's mind, "...Scott's affection level has decreased by 12 points. The current affection level is 47 points."
Cecily's heart skipped a beat. Just as she was about to explain further, Hank impatiently interjected, "Enough, let's call a doctor to treat the wound. Cecily's injury needs immediate attention."
Scott saw the blood on her forehead running down her face and felt that it was indeed a terrifying sight.
He decided not to argue with her any longer, but he confirmed that she had been trying to falsely accuse Marshmallow.
"...Scott's affection level has decreased by 5 points. The current affection level is 42 points."
The plummeting affection level pained Cecily deeply, but she couldn't show it. She had to maintain her pitiful and sorrowful appearance.
Hector ignored her and quietly observed the doll room while holding onto Marshmallow.
Marshmallow had sensed danger outside the room but now seemed calm. That didn't sit right with him. He had a gut feeling there was something more going on.
Meanwhile, Hank instructed Thomas to bring some bandages for Cecily's wound. The family doctor arrived shortly afterward and inspected her injury with a serious expression.
"The wound is deep. We'll need to use a wound skin closure kit."
He knew that Cecily was a relative the Jensens saw in high regard and added, "Don't worry. It won't hurt or leave a scar."
Could it be that he was just claiming to trust her, and he didn't believe her at all? How could she let that happen?
"Hank… Do you not trust me?" Cecily asked tentatively.
Hank looked at her with a complex gaze, but he didn't answer her question directly.
"You're hurt, so take the time to rest. School starts in less than a month. You wouldn't want to go to school with a scar on your face."
Cecily's pupils constricted sharply at his words.
The fear of how she would look on the first day of school overtook her. Her face paled as realization hit her that she couldn't let anyone see her like this.
Hank had mixed feelings seeing the alarm clearly written on her face.
