Hank had thought that by exposing Shannon's secret identity, she would show some sign of guilt or panic. But she didn't.
In fact, she raised an eyebrow slightly and even praised him in a rather unbothered manner.
"You're smart. I thought it'd take you another two years to figure out who Rosalie is. It's really impressive you caught on so fast."
Her so-called compliment didn't bring Hank any satisfaction. Instead, he felt a surge of humiliation as if he was being toyed with.
He could obviously tell that she was mocking him.
"If you hadn't misled me on purpose, how could I have not realized Rosalie was your alias? You even fooled me and rejected my request on purpose."
Shannon looked at him with an expressionless face.
"First, I never misled you. Second, I didn't fool you. I had every right to reject your customization request as Rosalie."
"And why wouldn't you take my request?" Hank instinctively blurted out.
Shannon snapped back without hesitation, "Why should I? What gave you the impression that you're important enough for me to do that?"
Given how he had often spoken to her in a passive-aggressive tone, she felt she was being gracious enough by accepting the call.
Hank felt his anger boil at her sharp retort. He was about to lash out when he thought of the purpose of the call.
He calmed himself down, but his face remained tense.
"Fine, let's not argue about that. I just want to know if you've looked at the original sketch I gave you."
Shannon was at a loss for words. To be honest, she had forgotten he'd even given her something like that.
Why did people keep trying to gross her out in the same way? First, Rachel had pretentiously regarded her as her sister, and now Hank was doing the same.
Though they shared a roof, she had never considered any of them as truly her family like how they had never treated her as a sister in the first place.
And now, they shouldn't even try to use that as an excuse. How disgusting.
Hank started at the screen and was utterly stunned that she had hung up on him again. His face was bright red with embarrassment and anger.
After a long pause, he called her back once more.
Shannon hadn't wanted to respond, but his persistence sparked her curiosity.
She reached into her bag and pulled out the sketch he had given her.
