Hearing the commotion, Winona barged into the master bedroom and saw Ethan and Wallace fighting. No matter how worried she was, she knew she couldn't be of help. Instead, she anxiously advised, "Ethan, stop! Ethan, please…"
Her repeatedly calling Ethan's name rendered Wallace extremely jealous. He kicked Ethan away and shouted at Winona, "Take a good look! I'm your husband, not him!"
Perhaps it was the relentless torture for the last few months that Winona subconsciously cowered at his scream like a conditioned reflex. Yet, when she saw the blood-stained Ethan desperately defending her, her tears came pouring again.
For the first time, she shouted back at Wallace, "You're not! My husband is Ethan Hayes, while you're an abductor—a bastard! You're never going to be my husband!"
Winona's nature had always been gentle. Combined with her tendency to weep easily, she had never growled like this before even in moments of great distress. Not only was Ethan stunned, but so was Wallace.
When Wallace found his bearings, he looked visibly angered and charged at her with a roar.
Preventing him from getting near her again, Ethan swiftly lunged at Wallace and knocked him to the floor. The two fought again.
Winona hastily grabbed Ethan's phone and wanted to call the police but realized the device was connected to a livestream. She was in a daze and couldn't comprehend the situation.
The livestream audience, originally only hearing sounds, quickly filled the chat when they knew someone had picked up the phone.
"Is it Ms. Winona? Quick, lift the phone! We want to see live footage!"
"Don't be afraid, Winona. We've already called the police. They'll be there soon!"
"Do you see that pretty lady in the livestream? She can switch your soul back to your body. Don't worry!"
At the sight of the police, Wallace was not only unafraid but smug. He pointed at Ethan, accusing, "Thank goodness you guys are here! This man trespassed into my unit and tried to abduct my wife. When I discovered him, he violently attacked me! I want to sue him!"
Similar to Bonnie's confidence, their audacity stemmed largely from the sheer incredibility of the situation itself. From a legal standpoint, Winona was Wallace's legitimate wife, which lent credibility to his accusation.
It was only then Ethan had an epiphany. "This was your and Bonnie's plan all along!" Even if he knew Natalie was Winona, he couldn't take her away in front of the police.
Observing his intense fury, Wallace wore a smug smile on his blood-stained face. "You're right. You said she was your wife, but can you prove it? If you can't, what does the truth matter? She… will be mine forever."
Ethan, once again, was engulfed by fury. He wanted to break free from the police's hold and charge at Wallace, but Shannon's calm and composed voice echoed again. "Are you sure he can't prove it?"
