While saying that, Linda rose and chastised Eva, "Who told you to spew this nonsense? Hurry up and go back to your room!"
Having been scolded, Eva felt aggrieved. "I didn't! You told me that! Even Cecily heard it!" And Cecily didn't correct Linda at that time.
Panic arose within Linda. Before she could explain herself, she heard Shannon's calm voice saying, "So, that's how you see me, Aunt Linda. A crooked sorcerer."
"No, Shannon, you've got this wrong!" Linda desperately wanted to explain but didn't know where to start. Not to mention—the Shaw and Gibson families clearly refused to listen to her reasons.
Seeing the children were listening, they suggested, "Shannon, why don't you take the kids out to play? They adore you and insist they want to spend time with you."
It was their way of protecting Shannon's inner child. After all, no kid would want to be called crooked by their own family. Not only did the outsiders undermine her, but her family also did. How pitiful was Shannon?
Although Shannon was unperturbed by that comment, she led Emily and Reese to the garden to exempt them from the conversation. Unaware of the stir she had caused, Eva joyfully followed them out.
As such, only the adults remained in the living room. Since Wyatt and Mavis were younger, they refrained from commenting first. However, being around the same age, Alex, Donald, and Helen didn't hesitate to confront Linda.
"Like we said, Ms. Jensen is our family's savior. Anybody who's against her is essentially opposing us. We can turn a blind eye to how you educate your child, but Ms. Jensen is your niece, Linda. Are Mr. Jensen Senior and Alex aware of this?"
At the mention of George and Alex, Linda's complexion turned pale. "This is a misunderstanding… W-Why would I do that to Shannon? It was…"
"A crooked sorcerer doesn't look after anyone," Shannon uttered flatly.
Eva became anxious. "That was my mom. I think you're… fine…" When she saw the indifferent look on Shannon's face, she stomped her foot and shouted, "Fine! I won't talk bad about you anymore. I won't let my mom do that either. Is that enough?"
She was disheartened. Why was Shannon so different from Cecily, who would comfort her? Instead, she had to be the one comforting Shannon. How tiring. She was ready to cry if this didn't work.
At that thought, Eva began strategizing her tantrum. Yet, before she could do so, she felt a hand atop her head, patting her lightly.
