Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 416

The moment the younger members of the Jensens saw George, they all straightened up in their seats.

"Grandpa."

George nodded, walked over, and sat down. His gaze first swept over Scott then Cecily.

He had watched Cecily grow up. Although she had always behaved well in the family, he knew she had her flaws. But he had never had an interest in correcting her since she wasn't truly part of the family.

As for Scott's fallout with Cecily, he hadn't intervened either. But seeing Scott growing closer to Shannon pleased George.

His eyes then moved to Hank and Hector before finally landing on Shannon.

He casually said, "Just now, Scottie said it was unnecessary to help those families. Why do you think I still sent bodyguards to protect the children after I warned them?"

"Because you're kind-hearted, Grandpa. You couldn't bear to see those children get hurt and do nothing."

Cecily was the first to answer. She was always eager to please the elders.

George simply smiled at her response but remained silent. He turned his gaze to the other children.

Unsure of why George was asking that, Hank followed Shannon's lead and said, "Many of those families have a significant standing in Seastone, and several are quite close to our family.

"Though the Gibson family doesn't have the best relationship with us, we couldn't just stand by knowing their child was in danger."

George nodded slightly at his answer. He looked at Hector, but his glance only lingered for a moment before shifting away.

He turned to Shannon and asked, "Shannon, what do you think?"

Her tone was filled with disapproval and an underlying hint of pity. "Maybe the people you've dealt with in the past weren't the best, which made you believe human nature is selfish.

"But parents at that kindergarten aren't like that. They're educated and reasonable, and they won't react the way you're suggesting."

Cecily's words seemed to imply that Shannon's view was overly tainted and doubted her moral outlook.

Shannon shot her a cold glance and retorted, "When someone's views are overly simplistic and idealistic, we call them goody-two-shoes."

Scott couldn't hold back a snicker.

He quickly covered his mouth and gave Cecily a teasing look. "I wasn't laughing at you, I just think 'goody-two-shoes' is a great term."
