While walking along the path, Madeline dabbed at the sweat on her forehead. She cast a worried glance at the blazing sun above before taking out a small mirror to inspect her makeup.
Thankfully, her makeup was waterproof, so it didn't smudge.
Eddie noticed her discreetly checking her makeup. He feigned ignorance and thoughtfully asked, "Are you feeling hot? Do you want to take a break and have some water?"
It was exhausting enough going out on a hot summer day, let alone hiking into the mountains.
Even though Madeline felt frustrated, she was careful not to reveal it on camera. She suppressed her irritation and said, "We've only just set off, so it's not really the best time—"
Before she could even finish her sentence, she suddenly let out a gasp, looked down, and jumped slightly.
It was obvious that a mosquito had bitten her.
She was wearing shorts and a pair of Dr. Martens boots. Although it accentuated her slender and fair legs, the exposed skin unfortunately made her a prime target for mosquitoes.
Madeline's expression fell as she exclaimed, "Why are there so many mosquitoes?"
Irvin, who was walking ahead, heard Madeline's exclamation and said helplessly, "It's known that there are many mosquitoes in the mountains. It must be pretty tough on you guys. I've brought some mosquito repellent spray with me. Do you want to use it?"
Madeline wanted to refuse his offer. Her assistant had already sprayed her with it earlier. She didn't like it since the smell was so overpowering that it completely masked the fragrance of her perfume.
However, she was even more worried about getting mosquito bites and having itchy, red bumps all over her legs.
After a moment's hesitation, she eventually took it, managing a strained smile as she said, "Thank you."
With that, she took the spray and gave her legs and arms a quick, thorough spraying.
She sprayed herself so liberally that the mist enveloped her, causing Eddie, who was standing nearby, to let out a startled sneeze.
Shannon nodded in response and took out two more talismans from her pocket, saying, "I have two more left. Do you want it?"
Kristen and Peter, who had been doubtful moments ago, nodded eagerly. "Yes, please!"
Vincent, standing nearby, was eyeing the talismans as well. However, seeing that she only had two talismans, he felt too embarrassed to ask for one. Therefore, he could only watch silently.
When the livestream viewers saw Shannon take out the mosquito-repellent talisman, most of them mirrored the disbelief of Kristen and Peter.
"Are you serious? Can there really be something this amazing? I won't believe it unless you drop me a link to the talisman's listing!"
"It seems like the concept of mystic arts doesn't feel that grand anymore."
"I knew Shannon was a genius! She's just like me!"
