Shannon nodded at Calvin as a way to greet him. Then, she looked at the police officer who was still holding the evidence bag.
"If you don't mind, can you pass the evidence bag to me for a moment?"
The officer was about to tell her that it was against the rules when Calvin snatched the evidence bag out of his hands. Then, he passed it to Shannon. Obviously, he trusted her.
After Shannon accepted the bag, Calvin saw her wetting her finger before drawing a sigil on top of the evidence bag.
Calvin arched his brow slightly. By then, Shannon had already returned the bag to the officer.
The water trail on the evidence bag had already dried up. There wasn't any trace on the evidence bag, yet Calvin could sense that Shannon had performed a ritual on it.
Was she worried that the evidence might disappear?
Calvin knew that Shannon was still filming "Sixth Sense", so he didn't ask her any questions. He thought for a moment before saying, "About what happened last time… thank you."
If it wasn't for Shannon's advice, Calvin's members might have gotten hurt.
Shannon knew what Calvin was referring to. She just smiled faintly before saying, "By the way, I already contacted the unit in charge of this case. Once your people track down the culprit, the unit's representatives will take over."
Upon hearing her words, Calvin suddenly remembered the employees from the National Special Security Agency who had come over to collect the remains.
That must be a specialized unit meant to deal with crime cases that had deep ties with the supernatural.
Calvin had been a police officer for a few years. He knew very well that he shouldn't ask questions he didn't want answers to, so he nodded.
Calvin knew who the employee was asking about. If the sigil left behind on the remains was a coincidence, then he was very sure that it was no coincidence this time.
He shook his head and was about to explain when the employee continued, "Our unit is currently recruiting new blood. Why don't you recommend that person to us? Do you have their contact number? I can always get in touch with them."
Calvin stuffed the piece of paper carrying Shannon's number into his pocket while maintaining an impassive expression.
"Nope. These two incidents happened because of the variety show. There are a lot of people there, but I don't think anyone could have touched the evidence bag."
The employee seemed a little remorseful. But when he heard the words "variety show", he decided to start watching it once he had time.
Some time after the evidence was handed over, the police were able to pinpoint the culprit by cross-checking the date of the ashes and the list of dead people.
