Myla had no idea the Ghost King had once left a protective King's Seal on Vincent either.
Perhaps it might have been out of guilt or for some other reason, but that seal was now the root of an awkward misunderstanding.
Juno Vale, Myla's superior, had planned to bring a few ghost reaper subordinates for the show, but she hadn't expected the Ghost King to be the one causing trouble.
Yet though the Ghost King outranked her in title, she answered to the underworld. An R-6 official like her in the mortal realm held more power than an R-5 official of the underworld. So if they were to fight, she could absolutely take him.
As the two parties met, tension crackled in the air.
Since Juno refused to back down, the dozen grim reapers who came with her lifted their chains and mourning staves at the ready. They looked more than prepared to throw down at a moment's notice.
Stuck in the middle of the dense, ghastly energy, Vincent's soul might have unraveled if not for the protective talisman Shannon had given him. But even with the talisman, he looked uncomfortable.
Seeing this, Myla immediately formed a mudra to stabilize his soul. Then, she quickly turned to stop the two parties on the verge of breaking out in a fight. "Boss, you've got it wrong! It's not the King of the Dark Mountain!"
She pointed to the battered, evil master struggling to stand after taking a hit from the black armored general.
"It's him! Not only did he tamper with the underworld's soul data and make someone die as a scapegoat, but he also tried to trap me with dark arts! I nearly got smacked by my weapon!"
Her tone screamed, "Boss, you've got to avenge me!"
But Juno rolled her eyes. "You got played by an evil master and nearly hit yourself with your gear, and you still have the nerve to come crying to me?"
The message was clear that the evil master, a clown, was not on par with being a real threat.
A few of the grim reapers familiar with Myla chuckled softly in amusement, rather than mocking.
Meanwhile, the evil master in question had noticed the overwhelming presence gathering against him. He'd just wanted to outsmart a universal traveler, so how did this turn into a gathering of grim reapers and the Ghost King?
How was he supposed to survive this? Nothing could ever save him now!
While he was weighing whether he should surrender, Dennis, hiding in the array, was scared stiff by the magnificent sight of grim reapers. After snapping out of shock, he turned to the evil master and pleaded for help.
