Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 2084

Shannon had originally come out of curiosity, having heard that Maeric had invited a revered mystic master to the residence.

In a time and place rich with spiritual energy, even an average practitioner would likely wield considerable power.

As the two passed one another, the mystic master barely spared her a glance before shifting his gaze away and continuing without pause.

Hiding behind Shannon, Serelith watched him go. Her initial tension and fear had faded into confusion. She couldn't help but ask quietly, "He didn't notice me, Shannon. Is he a fraud?"

The thought of the Ignis family hiring a conman made Serelith realize that they weren't all that exceptional.

Shannon replied, "It wasn't that he didn't; he simply couldn't. I've temporarily contracted you as my ghost servant, so I've masked your presence and grudge energy."

Even so, a true, capable master would've been able to detect her presence, even if her ghastly energy had been concealed. It seemed the mystic master wasn't a fraud—he simply wasn't extraordinary.

Then again, considering the upcoming selection of a new consort, it made sense not to draw attention by seeking out powerful figures.

If rumors spread that the Ignis residence was plagued by evil spirits, it would certainly tarnish Solvanna's reputation. After all, if she were truly protected by the phoenix, how could malevolent spirits easily invade the place?

Yet, in the brief moment of distraction, the mystic master had already swiftly moved toward a certain direction.

Anyone who didn't know better might think that he was simply pretending to be busy and trying to make an escape. However, Shannon, seeing where he was headed, paused briefly before following.

She had already suspected that the place was filled with ill omens, with not just one but several traces of grudge. Had the mystic master not approached her, Shannon wouldn't have bothered to get involved.

However, upon thinking about the power of phoenix that protected Solvanna, she couldn't help but want to see just how chaotic things could truly get in this household.

When they saw Shannon turn and follow the mystic master, Elysia and the others hesitated for a moment before quickly following her.

They trailed after her until they arrived at another courtyard not far from the southern wing.

As soon as they saw the gate of the courtyard where the mystic master had stopped, Elysia's vision blurred for a moment. How could it be here?

At first, Elysia had agreed, but Solvanna seemed displeased by the idea.

It was then that the carriage she was riding in had suddenly broken down midway.

Marcellus had volunteered to stay behind with her, waiting for the carriage to be fixed. At that moment, she had even felt a sense of gratitude toward him, thinking she had misjudged him.

When she recalled that incident, her body still trembled in fear.

Not long after Elysia and Solvanna's carriage procession had left, Serelith found herself suddenly surrounded by a group of unruly men along the road. Their eyes and words dripped with vulgar insults.

Marcellus stood nearby, watching as she was so frightened that she stumbled and collapsed, clutching her head, trembling uncontrollably.

It took a while before he finally sauntered over, sending the men on their way.

Then, he told her, "This shall be your warning—a warning not to entertain thoughts of replacing Solvanna in this family. If you ever dare to try again, I won't hesitate to leave you to their mercy."
