The moment the kid randomly latched onto him and called him "Daddy", Kai's first thought was: "Great, I'm gonna be the first to get cancelled, and we haven't even made it past Episode 1!"
However, he quickly regained his composure. He lifted his foot, intending to shake the child off. "The heck? Who are you? I'm not your dad!"
He was just a baby dragon that had evolved two years ago—a proper juvenile demon! Since when did he have a child?
Relentlessly, the kid clung onto Kai's leg and gripped harder when he tried to shake him off. He wore a pair of pitiful puppy eyes and said, "Daddy. You're my daddy."
Ignoring the bundle of cuteness that was before him, Kai unhesitatingly reached out and lifted him up.
His demeanor was aggressive as he warned, "Look at me clearly! I'm too young and innocent to be your dad! We're all minors, so please, look for a more convincing candidate if you wish to scam someone!"
The kid looked at him with utter innocence, as if he was processing the logic of his words. Then, after some pondering, he carefully asked, "Can you be my brother, then?"
At last, a more age-appropriate title.
However, Kai quickly snapped back to his senses. "Hey, kid. You can't just go around calling strangers your dad or brother. Go back to your family now!"
He prepared to move the boy to the side, but scoffed in disbelief when the latter continued clinging onto him. "You're not letting go, are ya? Just what do you want?"
Perhaps frightened by Kai's anger, the boy shivered slightly and looked hesitant. He finally turned his head and looked toward a spot not far away.
Kai followed the boy's gaze and saw that the boy was looking at the enrollment consultation counter set up by Hector's team.
Kai was confused, but before he could ask, the boy muttered in a frustrated tone, "I want to sign up, but they said they need a parent to register me."
Hence, he walked around looking for his "parent".
"You should've gone to your dad, then!"
With that, he led the boy to the enrollment consultation counter. After all, this was something related to the mystic schools, so the ones handling the tests and consultations were all senior mystic arts students.
Naturally, these people recognized Kai, the little dragon always hanging around Shannon.
Apparently, he was only a wyrm at first, but after following her, he successfully evolved into a dragon.
After Kai explained the situation, a female senior student in charge of the counter said, "Normally, such a young child can be accepted, but we still need to coordinate with his orphanage or school teachers.
"Right now, it's just the registration and review stage, and it depends on whether he has the required aptitude."
She then led the boy to a small room nearby. The room was surrounded by an isolation array, with a simple formation in the center.
The senior motioned for the boy to stand in the middle and stated, "Once you stand there, try to sense it and tell me what you see."
