Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 2035

"Would they be mad or repulsed? Would they be so embarrassed by their son that they believe they should've abandoned you when they divorced?

"Would they despise you so much that they wished they had erased you—a big mistake—from their life?"

When Shannon spoke of the next life, Dexter remained unfazed. That was no longer the case when she finally brought up his parents in his current life.

The more she said, the more the veins on his forehead and neck bulged. His face darkened, a mix of rage and something far colder, more disturbed.

"Stop… I said, stop! Just shut the hell up!" he roared, his voice filled with fury, clearly provoked by Shannon's words—or perhaps, he was scared.

He might've been born wicked, but even someone like him had weak points. If one looked closely enough, one would find them.

Striking the heart wasn't so hard, after all.

Shannon and Dexter's conversation was loud and unfiltered. Outside the door, the SVU captain and his team, who had originally come to take custody of the suspect, made no move to enter.

They stood in silence, listening to Dexter's furious shouting from inside. After a long pause, the captain finally let out a quiet sigh.

Just as the group felt the time was right and moved to knock on the door, Dexter's voice inside suddenly stopped mid-rant. The silence was followed by a shift in tone—sharper, tense, laced with fear.

"W-What are you doing?"

Inside the room, a rift had appeared right before Dexter.

Within it, blazing fire roared, scorching and relentless, like a vision straight out of hell. The heat seemed so real that it felt like it could melt a soul just by getting too close.

It wasn't a ghost gate, of course. No mystic masters had the authority to send a mortal into a ghost gate.

Since he had directed malice at her, whatever she did in return would carry no karmic debt at all.

Shannon was not the kind of person to let someone walk free just because they dared to come after her. Besides, she had also promised his victims to avenge them.

Before she handed him over to the police, she intended to let him feel what it meant to carry the weight of 29 murdered souls… and 56 tortured animals.

Without a word, Shannon raised a talisman, her fingers flicking it lightly through the air in front of him.

In the very next instant, Dexter's vision blurred. Something shifted.

When his sight cleared again, his pupils shrank, and his breath caught in his throat.

Behind her, shadowy forms had appeared. One, two… A dozen of the spirits he had once killed materialized. They stood shoulder to shoulder, eyes fixed on him with a cold, soul-chilling stillness.

At that very moment, a terrible dread began to bloom in Dexter's chest…
