Tucked away in the remote mountains of Jamborough, Shannon, whom many people were thinking about, stood alone above calm waters.
As her spiritual energy surged, a massive Tetrad Array rose around her and encircled the mountains. It linked to four distinct domains, each representing a unique illusion.
They included Jagged Viper, Phoenix Pyre, Torrentstride, and Miragewind Fox.
Each domain symbolized one of the Four Elements—earth, wood, water, and fire.
A closer look revealed that the figures within these illusions were all entities from whom Shannon had once borrowed supernatural powers, except for the last figure of the nine-tailed fox.
The figure of the nine-tailed fox was not borrowed but formed by Shannon.
Within the Wynthorpe clan, the difficulty of cultivating additional tails increased significantly with each. After successfully cultivating her seventh tail, Shannon spent two more years cultivating and finally obtaining the remaining two.
That was when her supernatural powers hit a bottleneck. No matter how she tried, she couldn't break through to the tenth tail.
It was the same struggle Louise and Reuben faced.
Now, there was less than a year before the deadline of her three-year agreement.
Shannon lowered her gaze and reinforced the Four Elements domain around her. This was today's part of her daily training.
Suddenly, she sensed a familiar presence entering the mountain's barrier. Without hesitation, she withdrew the array.
As she turned around, Benjamin appeared not far away.
He looked exactly the same as he had two years ago. But when several consecutive natural disasters had struck Crisea, including floods, droughts, heatwaves, snowstorms, and hail, he'd spent a great deal of his golden light.
It'd dimmed slightly compared to two years ago, yet no one would notice unless particularly observant.
Benjamin didn't want her to focus on that and said, "Today's the premiere of Sixth Sense Season Three. You promised Kai you'd show up to support him."
Shannon was startled. It was only now that she realized she'd completely lost track of time.
"Give me a minute. I'll descend the mountains with you shortly."
"Hector invited me to be a guest lecturer at the seminar too."
This upcoming seminar was aimed at teenagers from ordinary backgrounds with unawakened spiritual energy.
Both Shannon and Mike had come from unorthodox lineages and were self-taught. That was especially the case for Mike, whose mentor had barely made a difference. He was entirely self-made.
The two of them were perfect spokespersons for the seminar.
Over the past two years, Shannon had not only been cultivating her supernatural powers but also diligently keeping up with her studies at the mystic school.
She'd graduated early this year. If she hadn't been so preoccupied with training and neglected her work with the Special Security Agency, the Demon Control Agency, and Mystic, she could have easily advanced to a leadership role by now.
Gushing in excitement about the seminar, Mike said, "Hector really has good taste. Plus, he's paying me a guest fee too!
"Also, he had new clothes custom-made for me. Did you get yours? Shall we take a promotional picture together?"
