Bianca shot Zane a glance and scoffed. "I'm only giving you one. Once you use it up, that's it!"
Zane lowered his head and typed a reply. Before he could finish, Bianca added, "Unless you beg me."
Zane's typing paused. He silently erased the half-written message and retyped, "Please. I beg you."
Bianca stared at the four lifeless words and was utterly speechless. She and Zane locked eyes for a long moment before she impatiently waved him off. "Leave!"
After a pause, she added, "I'll send you a new one later, but you're not allowed to waste it again!"
Zane was a little surprised. Something about Bianca's energy and kindness reminded him of Thalia, which gave him a rare sense of warmth and familiarity.
His lips curved slightly. For the first time, he gave her a small, genuine smile filled with sincere gratitude.
Instead of typing, he silently mouthed the words, "Thank you."
As he turned to leave, he decided to ask Shannon later if they could get Bianca a gift, perhaps some fur-care products…
…
Meanwhile, Adam and his family returned to a villa owned by the Jensens in Jamborough.
On the way back, they briefly recapped everything that had happened today, including what had transpired while Hector was trapped inside Wynthorpe Manor. Especially the awakening of his demonic blood.
Hector had no recollection of any of it. He'd remained completely unconscious from the moment Thalia's seal on him was lifted to the awakening of his demonic blood.
It wasn't until Shannon and the others stormed the manor that he barely woke up. When he did, Marilyn was the first thing he saw.
Thalia made a mental note to bring her kids over someday and formally pay her respects to Marilyn.
Unaware of Thalia's thoughts, Shannon waited until everyone had settled down before finally focusing on her and Benjamin's matching golden bands.
She stopped him in the garden and seriously thanked him. "I know that you acknowledged our relationship in Wynthorpe Manor just to help me. I don't know why this new contract power appeared between us, but I promise I'll find a way to undo it…"
She was sincere about not making things difficult for him. At the same time, she was subtly trying to draw a line between them.
Listening to her words, Benjamin felt a dull ache in his chest. He gazed at her with a hint of helplessness in his eyes.
When he spoke, his voice was low and tinged with longing. He softly called out her name and said, "Shannon, it's me."
